We've heard some word that some of the players are pulling out of Internext due to the current state of affairs with the DOJ hot on the adult entertainment industries tracks. Anyone else heard anything or having second thoughts about advertising, exhibiting, or sponsoring activities?

Ive heard a lot of people are pulling out because to attend is so damned expensive for their team this year.
Also a few companies are pulling out of sponsoring because of the involved costs of doing so, including some of the 'regulars' for party events etc.
I was speaking to someone a few days ago who told me for her to fly down to Florida was going to cost her $125, the ticket itself is more than double that price.

Internext is a wonderful show. Of the shows I attended last year, it was my absolute favorite.
However, I admit that I am waffling. I love seeing everyone and all.... but I do think the 2257 stuff will effect it. So I have been weighing instead the Citiboyz cruise, advertising in Forbidden-Named magazines and maybe even going to the Berlin Venus show.

2257 considerations aside, we're having to say no to a go - we just can't justify the expense right now.... unless someone wants to hire me and the wifey and help offset the costs involved. Between air fare, hotel and show tickets, we're looking at over 2 grand. Kinda expensive for us since we aren't promoting a program per se and just basically wanted to catch up with old friends and put faces to new ones I've made in the meantime.
And I was looking forward to Gary and Lee and BigMoe in the bellyflop contest (even though Gary says never again! LOL)
Like I'd miss that.
Besides, as anyone who's met me knows, I can drink and eat MORE than the amount i'll spent to get there.

I'll be there. It's a great show and one I'd go out of my way not to miss.
I personally don't feel the cost of the show is at all prohibitive in and of itself. Nor do I see DOJ-related issues being worth not attending. In weighing financial costs of attending the show in the past against the benefits and return earned from doing so, it's an obvious decision for me: attend.
I always go to Vegas, and sometimes (most) to Florida. But not this year. I'm going to the shuttle launch instead.

I'll be there though definatly won't be participating in the advertising or sponsoring. The show and travel is definatly going to be an expense that I dont need right now, but feel like BDBionic in that the possible return is definatly worth it.
Besides. I want to sit back and watch Jasun drink himself silly!:goseek: (Like I'm sure I will do more than once myself)
Well I was about to tell Darren yes to my company sponsoring a party there - but........ after reading this now im not so sure - best flight I could find was 295.00 and that left me sittin in atlanta with a hell of a layover - more than 6 hrs total time - omfg and ya cant smoke ......... who else is in the Southwest -- saddle up lets get a wagon team together and do like the early pioneers did - if we leave now hitting each WIFI location along the way we can get there prolly by aug.....
With all this 2257 shimmy goin on I dunno...........
Vegas in Jan is so much better for me I just wish it wasnt so damn close to christmas u barely throw the wrapping paper away and its time to get in the car and hell I can never find ALL of my casino cards
We'll be going! It's one of the best shows of the year and we get a great deal more accomplished at the Summer Internext then many of the other shows we attend and sponsor. It's so much more laid back than Vegas, giving more opportunities to network and spend quality time with friends and future business associates!
Don't get me wrong, we would not miss Vegas for the world, but I have to say that as far as business goes, we get more done in Hollywood than we do in Vegas! There is so many distractions in Vegas like those damn slot machines, black jack, craps. God how I love Vegas...
As far as 2257 having anything to do with it, I'd have to say that I don't really see that as being an issue.
The pricing structure for Internext is no more than last year, although I do know that flights are a bit higher in price this year!
At any rate, I would suggest that anyone who can possibly attend, absolutely do so! The seminars will be incredible and very important, especially the legal ones!
I'm sorry to hear that many of you will not be attending, so I will look forward to seeing you in Vegas next January!

John and I will see you in Ft. Lauderdale. Wouldn't miss it for anything. We will be coming down a few days before the show, staying at one of the B&B's in Ft. Lauderdale and then staying a few days after the show to lay out naked, get some sun and relax.
You are right, it's a great show to network. Just got to be careful of that first step when getting off the shuttle. :notsure:
