    Movies and Member Areas

I know I asked someone about this awhile ago, but what are the options on how you setup your movies within a member protected area and have them play (able to access the 3rd party movie players) besides using Strongbox? I know one option is to put the movies OUTside the member area, but that leaves them wide open to hacking. Any other options?

pennywize does pretty much the same thing as strong box, but is more of a third party application. we used it and it worked fine.

DRM is also another possible solution although, to be fair, im noticing more and more programming dropping DRM as of late.

Bec, see this post - but note that this is not the perfect solution!

Strongbox is a much better solution, Ray is a good guy & I have worked with him quite a bit getting sb installed on a number of paysites we host.

Pennywize only offers password trader / hacker protection, not video protection.

    cheers,
    Luke

and of course the other way is to do inline videos, ie, put the media player code in as part of an html page. That way normal htaccess protection works since the referrer is your own domain.

    cheers,

Thanks for the assist! Been trying to figure out a way to do this for some possible prebuilt sites I'd sell off the design site without having to spring for Strongbox - or forcing the buyer to get it, although they probably should anyways.

Yea, but you'd be hosting them so there goes all that extra bandwidth they'd need to buy off of ya
