Earlier this eveing, Canada became only the 3rd nation in the world to grant same sex marraige rights to all of its citizens. The Canadian Parliament today passed the same sex marraige act despite the Conservatives and despite the ruling party being in a minority... Both other opposition parties blasted the Conservatives for their recent remarks and not as many Liberals defected as was expected.

"This is about the Charter of Rights," Prime Minister Paul Martin said Tuesday.

"We are a nation of minorities. And in a nation of minorities, it is important that you don't cherry-pick rights.

"A right is a right and that is what this vote tonight is all about."

I've never liked him much but that part sounds pretty reasonable. :thumbsup:

Now we just need somewhere like India to allow same sex marriages and maybe Bush will follow suit
