Do You Get Much Done 'Behind The Scenes' On GWW?

I was just talking to a couple of people on ICQ and in PM today and it dawned on me that, although GWW is a very active community, i still seem to get a lot of fresh business done behind the scenes from our community members.

Whether it be trading exit links, content exchanges, or asking for help and advice.

That got me wondering, do you guys conduct a lot of behind the scenes biz on GWW too? Meaning, do you speak to someone on the community and then go off the community to finish up your business?

Not really... I'm not much of a 'networking' kind of guy. I have met one of my best buddies here (Michael), my webhost (Luke), a designer (Stephen), content producers/brokers (WWC, James&James, Bregot/Polboys), a mentor (Lee), etc.

Hmmm, I guess I do quite a bit of business behind the scenes.

Yes, I would say I get more done off the board. I don't really like trying to do business via the board because so many people don't have their Private Message defaulted to send them a reminder when they get a PM. So, you send a PM, then days later, you're e-mailing or AIMing them and asking them if they got it.

I get most of my business done on AIM.

Lee, I just recommended rainbow content on another board for you today

I tend to do that all the time for my mates on GWW and I also get a good number of hosting referrals from people on this board too. So, yeah, the "behind the scenes" stuff works really well with GWW members.

I tend to do a lot more business off the board, but at least I get to post my content ads here. Most people contact me in private about actually buying content. But it comes from being on the board and being active. People get to know you through all your postings and when it comes time to trust someone they know they can trust you because you've been gabbing for a period of time already on the board. That's why we make friendships and good business acquantences, because we share a lot of ourselves here. :woof:

What I think is really kewl is when you go to another board and write a reply to someone's message and then they reply to yours saying 'hey I know you from GWW, I don't post there but I have read a lot of your posts'

Its nice every once in a while to get recognised
