    Asia's porn black market

It's so ironic that the countries such as Thailand that ban porn also seem to sell it the most openly. In the biggest computer mall in Bangkok, a place where families and kids shop, you can't walk 10 steps without someone shoving 'sexy movies' in your face, with pictures of boobies and pussies all the over the front of the DVD's. The same applies with the tourist areas such as Silom and Sukhumvit...walk down the street for more then a couple minutes and someone is bound to grab your arm and yell out 'sexy movie dvd's.'

What really fascinates me is the amount of titles these people carry...you can find everthing from Japanese gay porn, Falcon, Bel Ami etc., literally thousands of ripped off movies! Yeah, the quality usually sucks and sometimes they don't work, but your not going to complain when you get 10 films for $25 US.

As with the mainstream Hollywood movies (and maybe even more so), the black market for porn is HUGE is Asia, I can only imagine how many millions of dollars they rake in every year ripping off porn producers. I've seen the same kind of black market porn in other Asian countries as well, such as Hong Kong, Korea and Cambodia. I wonder how much tea money the cops and authorities in power must be paid off to allow this continue. It's this kind of secret economy that the Asian countries thrive on.

In Bulgaria we have "porn newspapers".

It's like a regular newspaper, which over there are not as big as here, except it's porn pics. Usually large photos and an article and personals ads.

You go over to any news stand on any street corner and they have them either mixed up with other papers or on the side. Most of the time with a huge pic of some chick sitting on a cock . And then there's the porn mags.

And TV channels that show music during the day and switch to unscrambled porn at 11pm.

In Sofia there's the Slaveikov street, famous for it's pirated software titles and movies. Today it's ran from under the counter, but still you can walk up to any table that has books (it's like a book store outdoors) and just ask for software or a movie. You can get a disk with all of Adobe's programs for $10 or less. Tourists love it.

Same with movies, even though if you get one disk it's ripped DVDs, still cheap. Some sell them at $5. People hacking into porn sites, leeching content then selling it on CDs and DVDs for $5-$10 bucks each to people that dont even know how to use the web.

Cops are always trying to catch them, but it's hard because they'd call someone to bring the disks over while you wait, it's a system that makes it hard on cops. Ultimately only the studios who press for action succeed.

You know ive never really though about there being a 'black market' for porn before, if i wanted to buy porn related items id just walk in to a store in any town [shrug].

Does make you wonder about the rest of the world though, especially, as mentioned those countries where porn is looked down upon.

Have any of our other community members been privvy to black market porn?

    Regards,

    Lee

    EuroXtreme,

I would send them a notice that they are not authorized to use your content unless they can provide a copy of a license agreement from a broker with whom you asked to license the images. If they can't provide such an agreement, then they have no right to own or use the images.

Should you provide them documentation? NO!

If you have all the documentation you need to support the models you have, as well as those you have legally licensed out, then that is all you need to worry about. You provide the documentation to your authorized image broker / agent, and it is up to them to provide the docs to the people they licensed them to.

You do not owe anything to people using your images without a licensing agreement. They are in the wrong for a number of reasons including improperly using your images without consent, as well as using them without proper 2257 documentation. It is not your burden, even if they do point the finger at you. they are not supposed to use the images .... period.....without the proper docs.....and that includes the licensing agreement.

    JMHO.
