    Methods Of Gaining New Affiliates?

Just wondered, other than advertising on resources and the likes, what other methods are their for program owners to gain more affiliates?

Board Whoring seems to be up at the top of the list these days but what about things that dont piss forum owners off?

Have you folks who own / run affiliate programs, had any success using alternative marketing forms specifically, when aimed towards webmasters?

    Regards,

    Lee

great post! well, i think just general marketing, not necessarily webmaster-based marketing, will work just as well. Webmasters are frequently surfing porn sites themselves and when they (including myself) come across a quality site, they're much more likely to sign-up for their affiliate program. That's how i've found all of my sponsors. So i think banner placements on other porn sites is a sure way to go. It'll boost your sales and will more than likely increase your affiliate base.

Thats definately a good idea although, i cant help but wonder if that would take away from the 'surfer' too?

Perhaps using a text link on your sites going to a 'webmasters' section would be a good way of doing the same thing without losing out on ad space for surfers.

What about other options? Has anyon had any luck with stuff like contests or raised payout promos?

    Regards,

yeah, that's what i meant: to have a banner (not an affiliate banner but just a general banner) on another site that goes to your main page with a webmaster link somewhere on that page. it's nothing new but i still think it's effective.

smart board-whoring is the best way i know of. i know guys who pull in a surprising number of good affiliates that way - you just need to be a likeable person, and be there whenever someone posts anywhere looking for things like ccbill sponsors, sponsors with fhgs and so on.

I think the real question is how to attract GOOD affiliates, not just those that push you one sale a month but those that give you many sales a day.....and honestly I don't know how to do that yet

    cheers,
    Luke

Luke, if you have affiliates that can send you 1 sale a day, keep attracting those affiliates and before long you'll have 100 affiliates pushing 1 sale a day

luke - if you have 100 affiliates sending 1 sale every other day, you're still making 50 sales a day. if you can get review sites to promote you, not only is their traffic gold, but the honest review sites do real reviews - so you can find out how to improve things.

i guess that's the point i was trying to make earlier...that GOOD affiliates come from affiliates who are PASSIONATE about their sponsor’s site themselves. And IMHO, these affiliates generally come from regular advertising. Not from "bonuses" or "prizes" or anything else for that matter, but from good quality content, reliability, and trust.

I know from personal experience, that in the past when i've sign-up with a program for their bonuses, i've lost my motivation to promote that program very fast, as the interest in that site wasn't totally there to begin with...that I had signed up for the wrong reasons. Whereas, when I sign up with a program solely because of the fact that I love their content and know that it’s hot enough to sell, i do whatever i can to get this across to my visitors and i do a pretty darn good job at it too

    I don't know...does this make any sense?

btw...i'm not a sponsor yet, but isn't this the best way to go? i mean look at sean*cody. didn't he get to where he is today because of passionate affiliates?

the most financially successful webmasters i know are not passionate about their niches, their sites or their market. they are passionate about money. i am only acquainted with a couple whales, but they sure don't fit your description, GPallan.

the guys who make 50 or 100 sales per day are all about traffic and cash. and most of us probably aren't likely to have them sign up for our programs.

as far as guys who sent 5 sales per day, i've worked with a couple programs who had at least a few guys like that, and they often had review sites like rabbitsreviews or else MASSIVE traffic that they spread around through exits. and of course lots of gallery posters can do 1 - 10 sales per day, but we tend to spread them through several sponsors.

don't forget big tgp owners. they'll add any sponsor into gallery rotation who has plenty of fhg's and a site that doesn't suck. the catch here is you have to bring yourself to their attention. and that's where board whoring comes in.

i have a friend who has a program, and it's doing well. he makes sure that EVERY post on any board asking for fhg's, ccbill, or any of his niches get answered - and in a very friendly way. he tells me that the most new affiliates he gets are from posts asking for hosted movie galleries. he has over 80 galleries for people to link to now, and they generate a fair number of daily sales.

i'm sure there are some guys who make a bunch of sales because they're passionate about content, but i used to make 10 - 12 sales per day and i don't even like porn *LOL*

i'm just rambling, but hopefully some of my rambling makes sense!

how do you explain guys like jake*cruise, corbin*fisher, sean*cody, straight*college*men, and amateur*straight*guys (who JUST introduced their new marketing tools) just to name a few. ALL of whom, as i'm sure you agree, are quite successful and non of whom provide a single fhg or the likes
