Doesnt the U.S have some kind of treaty to recognize marriages in other countries? I thought someone on GWW posted about that a week or so ago, if so, does anyone know if this would in fact cover same-sex marriage also?

Yes there is such a treaty however the US has chosen to suddenly 'exempt' same sex marraiges. There was a big stink about it when Ontario granted same sex rights and people began getting married... so until the political types sort it out the treaty seems to be ignored by the US.. until it gets into court if it ever does, then who knows.
