How do you know if a sponsor is not cheating you

Here's a question, which may have been asked before...

How the hell do you know if your sponsor is actually paying you for all signups and rebills made through your account if.... this sponsor has no stats area except those that show how much money you earned?

Just wondering as there are quite a few affiliate programs with no stats at all and one has to believe their word...

I don't think you do, even with a stats interface. Read here:

I have not seen a problem like you are describing. Even ccbill based affiliate programs have pretty decent stats. I would definetly check into them before promoting them.

if your sponsor is using ccbill or epoch as their processor AND their stats, and ccbill or epoch pays you directly, shaving is a challenge as long as the hits seem reasonable.

of course, they could change the tour a few times a day and then change it back, but other than that, it's easier to trust a new sponsor that uses a third party processor.

i haven't seen a lot of programs that show you nothing but sales. most show you at least hits, and except for dollarmachine/python, pornkings, and i think pussycash, most have more info available like referring urls or something.

anyway, the bottom line is you will NEVER know if a sponsor is shaving you, but you can usually figure out if you're being shaved badly.

Like basschick says, third party billing and stats is the most reliable way to ensure you are not getting shaved. Also, knowing your sponsor and their reputation is very important too.

Back in the day we were setting up our affiliate program via ccbill and we noticed no sales were not being counted. We contacted CCBill and they told us we had one part in the admin setup wrong and this caused no sales to be counted. Ofcoarse we still paid the affiliates for the sales but it showed us that even with 3rd parties it was possible to shave.

I just think knowing who runs the program helps the alot. I also know some software programs will terminate the program if anyone is ever caught shaving.

Unfortunately, there is no way of knowing, even using a 3rd party processor such as CCBill it is possible to shave webmasters extremely easily.

Its as simple as setting a maximum rebill limit on affiliate accounts using CCBill.

Id figure, the industry average for rebills is somewhere between the 2-4 month period if you have a reasonable site, you can quite easily set the rebill period for which affiliates are credited to 3 months and they'd be non the wiser.

lee - it's easy to check what the rebill limit is in a ccbill program, and whenever it is changed, an email is automatically generated and sent to all the affiliates.

True enough but other things such as cookie dates arent as easily checked.
