Check It Out Digital Camera Reccomendations For Still Life Images?

Okay bit of a weird question here LOL

We're looking for a decent camera to take some pics of non-adult related everyday items, for example, apples, carrots, that kinda thing.

Anyone know anything about that side of the photography business?

If so, what digital camera would you reccomend for taking such pics?

Also, lighting equiptment, what is the absolute minimum wattage needed to ensure adequate lighting for taking such still life pics?

Any help you can offer on this would be appreciated

    Regards,

    Lee

since this is a "mainstream" question , it's of no threat to my adult buisness :goof:

    recomendation: sony

instructions: go to the nearest "b*st buy" and try/test/etc. the model that best fits your needs. ( performance overides price in my book , but if your on a budget buy the model inbetween low and high end )

p.s ~ fruit is especially appealing with a light layer of wax ( pledge...it ain't just for tabletops! ) and lightly misted with a spray bottle , try and photograph in natural lighting ( sunshine comming through a window ) with an uncomplicated ( white/cream ) bowl & tablecloth ( you want the emphasis on the fruit not the "pier 1 bowl" :goof:

p.s.s ~ this is also the brand i use at the beach! , it's great for filtering that harsh glare off the water and sand...just watch the waves! , it ain't waterproof!

    Cool thanks for the info

On the subject of lighting and related issues..

What are your thoughts on utilizing a light cube to diffuse the light around the subject matter?

Is a lightcube needed or, is there another way to get an even spread of light?

    Regards,

although perfect lighting is ideal most of this can be synthetically reproduced in adobe by use of filters. ( spotlight/etc. )
i would experiment with different types of lighting systems to see which best suits your needs. ( i use alot of non-conventional items/approaches such as mirrors and backlighting but this works for the type of photography i am doing now )
this is part of where the "art" begins , be creative! ( interpreted: i'll be damned if your "shinyapple.com" surpases my porn sites! :goof: )

sincerely ~ ..."when you know the angles of things , you can photograph most anything"... - my grandfather ( of course i've come along way from trees and flowers! )

I love love LOVE my HP M407 camera. 4.1 megapixal, Lightweight, easy to use. And with the optional docking port/charger, its easier to download pictures onto the computer. The picture resolution is great. The only thing I'm not crazy about is that it sucks through batteries like a drunk with a bottle. The best thing about it though is that it isn't all that expensive. I picked up both the camera and docking station for roughly $300 last november.

As far as light diffusion. I have used a metal clamp light (silver shop light) and a white bedsheet and gotten very good results.
