Your Thoughts... Working In The Industry Without A Website?

I was just talking to someone on ICQ and she bought up a weird claim, she told me that although she had been in the industry for a couple of years, she has never owned a 'site' of her own yet she still sells stuff to surfers

At first i didnt think it was possible however, i actually stopped and thought about it for a second and realized that although it may take a little more work on her part, its actually entirely possible.

The first thing i thought of was 'spam' but she tells me (and i tend to beleive her) that she has never sent emails of any type out and that she didnt even have hosting LOL

So i asked what she did to make sales and she pretty much told me that she hands stuff out in bars and clubs, flyers, business cards that sort of thing.

Has anyone on GWW had any success with offline marketing to adult surfers?

I was simply amazed that Cheryl didnt have a site yet still made a reasonably decent living selling porn to people LOL

    Regards,

    Lee

Wow, I think that'd be really hard to do as most folk wouldn't bother to type in a long url including someone's referal id off of a printed flyer or card.

How about google adwords? But I don't think they allow you to put referral codes in your links. You would usually send people to at least a FPA with you ref code on it... and that would require hosting.

google adwords - and lots of other pcc search engines - do allow you to put in affiliate codes. often google makes you put "affiliate" or "aff" in the ad.

It makes perfect sence to me, in fact we did it for years. Of couse we've been playing to a different drummer out here ...so I've learned over the last few months on these different webmaster boards.
Hell I use to think I was a webmaster till they set me straight over at the old Abb board. I never dreamed in my life I was a sponcer.
But a business card hand to hand is the personal touch, and it's as good or better than SE traffic if the person recieving the card types it in. In our postion I had a mic in my hand doing the wifes show and was able to bump our site in the clubs across the country where we played to people within our nitch, itch, or how ever you spell it! Bawhahahaa!

But it seems to me like "and nothing personal towards any webmaster" but these folks out here on the boards are just WAY to stiff for me. They make this stuff a Whole Lot harder than what it really is as far as I'm concerned.

But I listened to surfer's for years in the clubs and I think there a lot wiser than what some people give them credit for. Hell there scared to death to click a link on a adult website. I don't think they'll ever get over it either with the constant negtive media attention adult websites get.

I could go on for ever about this subject probably and just bore you guys to death with bad grammer and piss poor spelling. But I understand exactally where the girls coming from and how it works.

..."anything is possible"... - debbie gibson

i guess it would depend in what capacity ( advertiser/sales/etc. ) looking at it from a "pie-perspective!" who really makes more? , the baker or the store?

sincerely ~ ..."do you know the muffin-man?!"... :goof:

well actually its possible to sell things without a website. It would kinda be like Ebay but accept all thru email just zap photos or other things to them to see what you have to offer and well done....i guess if the person wanted to be low profile and nothing heavy (traffic wise) i guess that would work or well if they wanted just to sell a few things here and there just to make some extra income type of thing. But yes depending on the circumstance i belive everyone in any industry especially sales or whatever needs a website to show the company is ligitimate for one and well to show everything you have to offer.
