What is the next evolution ?

Being in the live cam business for about 8 years I have seen it evolve from the static jpegs pushed one after another to the clients browser, the streaming , then audio with streaming. So what do you think is next ? as more and more people get broadband connections and in general bandwidth charges get lower it enables us to play with more ideas. Do you think we will soon have streaming to cell phones ( I mean fast streaming, not trhe slow jerky things we have now ) or will it be full screen streaming?

    What do you think?

H.264 allows higher quality video through the same bandwidth (or same quality through lower bandwidth), so I think all video/streaming applications will continue to improve. Hard to say what specifically is next since video across the board will get better.

One thing on the horizon will be interactive video clicking. My partner just started working with an upstart that is perfecting interactive video-clicking software. They have patents pending with some big name partners showing interest. The applications (adult or mainstream) are limitless. Click on Angelina Jolie's sunglasses to buy them, click on a porn model's underwear to.... well heck knows.

I am not too sure of the direction, but I am sure it will be a stunning one (I have fallen out of the loop. I no longer read or subscribe to the tech mags or ezines as I did when I first joined the electronic age).

For me (and this is not meant to offend anyone, this is merely my view or opinion), viewing porn on a cell phone simply has no appeal (and truly makes no sense). I do not understand how one can be aroused by looking at a 200x200 (if even that large) of what looks like genitals - the images are beyond too small and the image quality is too low, for me to bother with. It is like visiting a TGP site that offers only one-thumbnail and it can not be enlarged. No thank you!

I understand the intended direction for large cell phones will be along the lines of an iPod: a large storage device with a personal gaming station, a larger screen, an MP3 player, a cell, a personal organizer and whatever other 'goodies' (camera/video etc) they can pack in. I am sure they will be fabulous, but that is still not good enough, for me. Hell, until recently I could not stand laptops (the new large screen laptops from Apple are the only exception).

I understand: (many have told me this before) I am simply different from the rest.

I am a romantic who loves natural beauty as well the details of the part being viewed. No details, well then what the hell am I looking at ... a silhouette and that's all.

You do realize by 'gay' I mean a man who has sex with other men?

Im already aware of several companies who are flaunting 3G mobile technology so far as streaming content goes and, it seems to be working well for them.

So far as the next 'evolution' thats a hard one, however, i do forsee a return to the ways of old so far as tour styles go over the coming years, even on TV the 'reality' fad is starting to scrap the bottom of the barrel.

I also think obscenity is going to be a HUGE issue for the industry over the coming years, the DOJ has already stepped up their obscenity task force and im sure we'll see a much more 'targeted' approach to obscenity prosecutions over the coming 5 years.

Technology wise, i think we're going to be seeing a boom in more 'personal' technologicl advances, tours that not only let a surfer know where they are surfing from through GEO:IP (as some do now) but also display content to the surfer based on their existing browsing experiences, automatically.

Can you imagine hitting pornsite.com and if you are in to twinks, you get shown a bunch of twink content, if you are in to bears, you get shown nothing but bear content, the same site, just showing the surfer what they are looking for specifically.

Whilst im on the subject of content, i think we're going to see a much wider reach of niches showing up over the next 5 years, webmasters (and companies) are just now starting to look at the gay market place to increase their profits, those who are ahead of the game are going to start developing sites for the lesser known niches, both gay and str8.

Im also of the belief that the methods we currently use to display content are going to differ, we have already seen in the last 5 years how the industry has shifted from images and stills, to movies and streaming content, i wouldnt be surprised if 3D content got a huge boost and that became the next 'fad' that is to say, content that is shot in a room where the end user can tilt and pan throughout the scene 360 even to the point of seeing the person behind the camera directing the scene.

On the gay side of things i forsee a bleak future for us unfortunately. As more and more of those companies in the straight side of the industry start entering the gay market place, we're going to see a decline in signups as surfers become more and more wary of spyware, adware and other such applications. We're also going to see an increase in sites that put simply, suck donkey balls.

I do however feel that as with most other things in the industry we'll over come this which, is why i feel the types of content delivery methods i mentioned above will become 2nd place to us as we develop our sites more.

Im also pretty certain that we're going to see an exodus of webmasters leaving the adult industry and screwing up the mainstream world which in turn, will mean more online laws will need to be written.

    Just my $0.02 anyway

    Regards,

    Lee
