Another Movie Question - Flash / MPEG Benefits Of Each?

Ive seen a few movies recently that were streamed / encoded using Flash and i was wonderig what the advantages of using Flash over more regular media types such as AVI, MPG, WMV were etc?

Other than the surfer not being able to save the file, are there any other benefits to coding these movies in Flash?

Xstr8guy, i know you have a couple of flash movies on one of your sites, may i ask what made you go the flash route and not the regular method?

From what I have seen (and understand), the end result will be smaller file, making it faster (bandwidth will be less costly).

I have not played with, so that is merely an assumption.

I was watching some flash movies recently and one thing I noticed is it kept asking me to allow a cookie in FireFox. (I think it only happened because the streams where also trying to access my mic and camera.) While it didn’t bother me one bit to click allow I would guess that a horny surfer would get moody if he had to stop ‘handling business’ to click the allow button.

The movies did load very quickly and the video stream was pretty smooth. It wasn't as choppy as I've seen on some sites that use Java (or other methods) to stream their videos.

I think it was bec who once posted a very nice demo of a flash movie that i really liked and the file size was small and the quality was great. That right there would be an advantage.
