    Seperate internet/www for under 18.

Instead of trying to make the internet g rated, why not go the other way with it. It would seem infinitely easier to make an internet or world wide web specifically for youth, under 18 persons, that way each site could be approved or at least monitored in that realm. Any thoughts ?

aol has something like that, and some parents i know really appreciate that. i think it's a great idea - you could have search engines that only list kid-safe content.

the only question i have would relate to things like medical sites - stuff kids might need for homework, but might show nudity or gore.

    any thoughts on that?

You do realize by 'gay' I mean a man who has sex with other men?

Educating parents about maintaining contact with their children while they surf online or using applications such as parental blocking programs would be a much more cost effective and practical thing to do imho.

Why spend literally, billions on creating a 'kids only' internet when you could spend a couple of million on a decent ad campaign educating parents about the threats of allowing their children to browse the internet unwatched.

They already have those types of commercials for drug use in children, why not the internet?

Personally, im of the belief that if a parent doesnt have the ability to supervise their children online, they shouldnt have an internet connection to begin with.

Hell, we could even go one step further and ask that the computer manufacturers package 'kid safe' software on all new pc's that they sell, that is to say, some application that would only allow a internet connection to certain sites if the parent enabled such a connection otherwise, adult sites wouldnt be accessible by default on each and every new machine that came out of the factory, cost wise, you are probably looking at a couple of extra dollars being added to the cost of a new pc, compared to millions of dollars every year in government costs trying to fight online pornography and other such sites.
