question about mpegs playing in Windows Media Player behind .htaccess

all of my .mpg movies are prompting for a username/password login AGAIN AFTER i have already successfully logged into the members area. i guess my settings are set to have Windows Media Player as the default player for .mpg. i am running Windows Media Player v. 10. is this normal?

    thanks

Yes, this is normal, since you are validating your member userid/password within the browser program (ie or firefox) but once you click the video, it launches windows media player and no membership credentials are passed to it.

For a workaround, check this thread:

    cheers,

thanks for the info, Luke!! i'm glad to know that i'm not doing anything wrong, it's just that Windows Media Player doesn't pass the session through. i'm on version 10. i thought they had changed that by now. but in any case, i have a workaround that will work.
