when do you think google is doing the next major crawl?

I would like to know an estimated time so I can be ready for it.


I believe google did the last major one at the end of July. does that sound correct?

I believe they are in the process of updating things right now. Google stats have been a bit sporatic in the last week or two plus I have read a few articles saying that people are noticing backlink updates this week.

I thought they stopped that and update constantly. Or maybe not?
I've seen forum posts at other sites show up the same day they're posted

Thats what I thought. I know they didnt do it for the month of August though. Maybe every-other month?

It seems like its very sporatic so no one knows when they do the crawl.

I know there was a shift about 2-3 weeks ago. I can always tell because I lose my number one ranking for a good keyword phrase to a scumbag site that has absolutely no good earthly reason to rank. I've held this phrase for a while now and every month after an update, this guy jumps ahead of me for a week or so. Then when Google makes whatever adjustments they do, he starts dropping and sometimes disappears altogether.

My rankings came back last week.

But also on another site, I did a major overhaul, rewrite, redesign. I finished that a little over a week ago. I'm not showing up in Google for the new keyword phrase that I'm targeting, but I'm already number 8 in MSN and Yahoo. I probably just missed the deep crawl.
