Q: Can you recommend a software product that really works for blocking out inappropriate material? I have Cybersitter, and it will still allow porn to get through. I am about to buy a new computer and would like to get a monitoring program my children will not be able to get around.
A: I cannot recommend a software solution for this problem that is foolproof. Kids are smart and, depending on age and ability, can often defeat safeguards designed to restrict Internet access.
It takes a combination of tactics to safeguard your family. The primary one is education. Understanding the threats and how they work can go a long way.
Second is communication with your family about what is out there and what the expectations are.
Keeping the family computer in a public area of the house is a key deterrent. Few people will actively surf porn if someone is likely to walk by at any time.
Also, putting the computer in a public space and not closed up in a back bedroom can offer opportunities for a frank family discussion about what is out there and how it should be addressed.
This is a complex situation, and the solutions vary by family. There are compromises to be made between safety and privacy. You will need to evaluate all of your options and decide what is best for your family. FULL STORY

No filtering sofware works because the kids can all defeat it, yet our industry is to blame for kids having access to porn? WTF
Is it just me or did this article offer no help other then to put the computer in a public place as the only defense to porn?
