    L is for LOVED IT!

I just checked out The L Word season one from the local library. Which I think is crazy, that libraries in an ultra conservative midwest town are carrying The L Word and Queer As Fuck, but anyway; I absolutely loved the series! For me it definately won me over a million times more than QAF, but to be fair I haven't seen the last two seasons of QAF.

The characters and story lines, while somewhat stereotypical, kept me enthralled throughout, I haven't enjoyed a one hour drama that much in a long time, if ever. Any other fans of this series here? Is it even still in production? Stuck out in bumfuck, I don't get Showtime. Guess I should check their site huh. I love the library, they are a gay movie emporium!

A few years back there was drama in our city about the children's books about same sex parents. After all the dust had settled .. the library had to buy 2 more copied because of the surge of patrons requesting the books. The idioticy of it all made Chuch Sheppards New Of The Weird.

I don't know what it is about libraians, but they may be the last humans standing that won't allow Big Brother to censor what we read.

I agree, Madame. I LOVE the L Word. It is lightyears beyond Queer as Folk in terms of its content. Whereas Queer as Folk was often leeringly salacious in how it presented the sex, The L World takes a much more sensual, less sensationalistic approach, and the writing is EXCELLENT. The charcters are much more developed and three-dimensional, and the acting is wonderful. I simply can't say enough about the show. Season two got a lot of flak for not being as good as season one, but I disagree. I loved the second season just as much.

I do have to add, however, that Queer as Folk got a LOT better in its final two seasons. I'm pretty sure they replaced the entire writing staff at the end of season three. The tone of seasons 4 and 5 was vastly different than those of the first three seasons. I actually started looking forward to new episodes in its last two years. I think they did a good job of turning the show around and presenting the relationships in a more complex fashion, but it was still a VERY guilty pleasure.

You do realize by 'gay' I mean a man who has sex with other men?
