Actually, it isn't meant to be spamming at all. I made a post, Josh replied to it, I replied back and it just grew into a monster. It was like a big game of TAG. Maybe Lee hasn't responded because he sees it for what it is: not an attempt at promotion, but rather just something fun and cute between two board members. Again, not trying to promote anyone or anything here (in fact, none of my posts have mentioned his website or anything of the sort ad I do not believe his do, either). If I were to spam and promote, I would do it fo rmy own sites and company. God knows they could use it.

Personally I don't care if you were or weren't promoting JT, which it didn't look like to me. As long as the thread is clearly labelled, and nice, what's the problem, right? I mean, besides people coming along and trying to make ya feel bad. I don't even mind stuff like the CC crew with their All Is Full Of Spam cross-forum campaign, as long as thread titles aren't misleading. Jesse, Josh, whoever the cute company representing face, at least this one isn't only promoting his personal interests and participates in other conversations.

What I mean is: Each section of a forum, not just this one but all forums online, is set up for the reason of containing a collection of threads that fall into that category.
If I was to pick up a news paper, I wouldn’t look in the obituaries to find the daily comics. Nor would they publish a comic in the obituary section because it’s such a sad section all the time.

Gawd DAMN this thread is turning into some major drama, hahaha. Since Josh's site is under the program that I run I guess I'm obligated to respond to it?
Personally, I feel that Josh is being subjected to a double standard because he's a model.
1. To say that the "Gay Industry Forum" is all about business is just, well, stupid for lack of a better word. There are hundreds and hundreds of off-topic posts about everything from family pets, to politics, to religion, to funny videos or television shows. Let's look at some recent threads started by MiamiB, who initiated this negatitivy in the first place:

Yes MiamiB, all VERY "business" related threads that you started there in the main forum. To be honest, the more posts of yours that I've been reading lately, the less impressed I'm becoming of you. I rarely find anything posted by you that isn't a nasty snip at someone or something. Maybe if you started being a little more pleasant around here, people might one day start a thread about how nice of a person you are to talk to.
2. It's a little weird having a model on this forum, and with the exception of Buck and a few others, there aren't many models that come around here that also have a vested business interest in a site. To say that every time Josh posts, he's "spamming" his site, would be like saying every post that Buck has ever made is a "spam" of his site, or that Buck is just posting to "get his name known". But, we all know that not to be true of Buck, and I'm sure once you get to know Josh better, you'll know it's not true of him either.
True Josh has a financial interested in the success of his site. That's why I suggested he start reading and posting on GayWideWebmasters. This is where people that have financial interests in adult gay sites go, and in between the rantings of the emotionally distressed amongst us, there's much to be learned here.
3. Rocky, someone that has ZERO business interest in Josh or his site made a post about him being a nice guy to chat with. This was a simple, hey I talked to Josh, who happens to be a new member of this forum, and he's really a nice guy, you might want to get to know him when you get the chance. I've seen dozens and dozens of posts like that made here. We are for the most part a friendly bunch. I've seen posts about how nice luke is to talk to, or how cool it was for some people to meet Chad in person, the list goes on and on. Again, just because Josh is a model, every time someone says something nice about him, or every time he posts, it's "creative spam"?
From where I sit, let me just say that I have always been careful in this and other forums not to cross the spam barrier. Personally, I think the types of posts that I see made by companies like CuriousCash are just counter-productive, and cast a negative light on a company's business methodologies.
Josh is new to forums, and I've been very careful to talk to him about what is / is not appropriate. What type of threads to avoid, what his signature length should be, and just general guiding principals until he's totally familiarized himself with the atmosphere of community based sites.
I have other members on my team that I've specifically asked to avoid the forums for now, simply because I don't want a stream of posts from my associates, even posts totally unrelated to this project, to look like spam.
I can't apologize for the thread that Rocky started, since my company nor myself had anything to do with it. It was a nice gesture toward someone Rocky felt was a nice guy, namely Josh. I also feel that Josh's reaction to it when he saw it was fun and appropriate as well.
All I can promise for my part that I will continue to respond to threads and posts that are made here in a way that I hope is at least at times helpful and insightful, and that I will be sure that anyone that represents my company does the same.

For myself, I think its great that Josh is posting here, that others are pleased with their experiences, it makes for a community, which is what GWW is supposedly to be, not slanted one way or the other.
I haven't talked with Josh, but from seeing his interaction it has influenced me, but then so has the interaction by others influenced my business decisions.
I think it is too bad that we seem to be getting away from having fun while we work and get into all this nit picking & snide remarks.
I like that not every thread is high drama, not all 100% business, but maybe I am just weird. I like to have fun while I work, which is why I come to GWW.
