Every time i hit a site that uses a java applet IE crashes completely
Ive been through the Microsoft support site and all they say is to check with Sun Microsystems however, they have no repairs and i just downloaded the latest version of Java and its still happening.
Anyone had this happen to them and, if so, how did you fix it?

I've had this happen on some sites that use Java but definately not all. Unfortunately I've never been able to find out how to fix it or if it's a problem on my end.
Java always crashed on me when using gay.com chat. I uninstalled java, and re-installed it and that worked. Did this on several of our machines that had this problem and they all worked.

try closing down all other programs running, sometimes its due to a conflict (I have had this type of issue with outlook). Also check your firewall / virus scanner settings.

Replace it with Firefox. Once I did that, all my browser issues went away.
Dump Microsoft's VM and use Sun's. You might have both of them installed but you have to select which Java to use. I'm not exactly sure how to do it but it might be in the 'advanced' tab in 'internet options'
suns is actually the one im using right now, i didnt even know MS had their own, going to look for it now

I don't think MS supports their own VM anymore. On an older computer I had both installed. Microsoft's was the default and it was buggy and allowed all kinds of nasty viruses into my computer.Originally Posted by Lee
