Post The 3 T's Of The Adult Industry

    Traffic, Traffic, Traffic.

Most of us are on the look out for more traffic to send to our sites and, with so many places existing in the industry to get traffic these days, what can you do with it once you actually get it?

There are still an awfull lot of webmasters who seem to think that the way to make money is to get as much traffic as they can, send it to a site or two with some banners or buttons on the page and the surfers will signup well, i hate to break this to you, thats not how things work - Anymore.

With that in mind, i figured it would be a good idea to share some tips, not only on generating traffic but, more importantly, turning your existing traffic in to $$$ signs

    1. Traffic doesnt just mean money, in some instances it can mean power.

Sometimes, you can actually benefit more from your existing traffic by not sending it to a sponsor but, by sending it to your own traffic site, whether that be a hub, tgp, links list, whatever. In the short term, its probably going to mean you take a hit financially however, building a steady, consistent traffic base on your main site or sites is going to mean more money in the long run plus, more power to bargain with later wen it comes to building your traffic trades with other sites and webmasters.

    2. If you are a TGP'er dont forget to use the traffic wisely.

I know a lot of you submit to TGP's however, in addition to submitting galleries with recips to the TGP's you are currently using, spend an hour to build your own 'fake' TGP and submit your galleries with a recip to that. Surfers dont immediately join paysites from galleries, we all know that, they look around for the right sort of content, this means, that some will leave your gallery (where you are restricted on marketing to the surfer) and potentially go to your fake TGP where you have all the freedom in the world to do with that surfer what you will, blind link them, pop consoles on them, CJ them, whatever it takes to make that sale, TGP traffic does have more than one use

    3. Filter, filter and, filter some more.

Those of us who have tried filtering our traffic know it helps make the sale, by filtering your traffic, you are, in effect, ensuring that a surfer looking for bears, is going to end up on YOUR bear site just as, a surfer looking for jocks is going to end up on YOUR jock site, dont assume that just because a surfer has hit your site, the pay sites you are offering them is what they are 'actually' looking for. Traffic filtering can take many forms, the easiest of which is to add several text links in a table at the bottom of your page going to several of your other sites, more complex filtering methods include building hige hubs full of FPA's, FHG's and free sites, find a filtering method that will work for you on your sites, for most, adding 6-8 text links on the base of their pages will suffice enough to ensure you filter your traffic a little better.

    4. Love them or loath them, consoles work.

However, in this instance im not talking about popping endless console chains to your surfers, instead, use a blur or pop up console that contains links to your other sites as well as your sponsors, i realize SP2 has pretty much done away with consoles these days however, they do still work, if you use them wisely!

    5. The forgotten traffic source.

Ever thought about just emailing or ICQ'ing other webmasters for link trades? A strange concept i know but, before we had all manner of trade scripts available to us, that was one of the only methods we had to generate traffic. Dont under-estimate the power of good old fashioned link trades, there are plenty of people in the industry who have lots of traffic, run sites similar to yours and, are looking for more traffic themselves, sometimes it really does just take a well timed email asking if someone wants to trade traffic with you and, whats the worse that could happen? They can say no.

Traffic is, ultimately, the one thing we ALL need to make money in this industry however, as you have hopefully seen above, using our existing traffic more wisely can go a long way to ensuring that we remain profitable. At the same time, never forget, the adult industry was around before we had all of these 'technologies' to help us, just because everyone else is using a trade script to run their sites, it doesnt mean you have to and, as i mentioned above, sometimes simply asking another site owner for a traffic trade is all it takes.

    Regards,

    Lee

When we first started out we spent countless hours maintaining our postings to TGP's. Yes we gained a lot of traffic, but it was for the most part very low quality. Mostly people looking for free porn (duh).

We quickly determined that the time spent (=money) trying to get a terrible conversion rate, could be better spent elsewhere. Perhaps we weren't skilled in converting TGP traffic?

Making our revenue sites better for the member, sending traffic to our other sites, working with affiliates, established directories & search engines, produce at least 20 times the conversion rate of what we saw with TGP's.

Yes we spend a heck of a lot on advertising and paying affiliates, but I don't see us ever going back to TGP posting or ever using consoles...

I am not really fond of your thinking Lee sometimes...

"TGP where you have all the freedom in the world to do with that surfer what you will, blind link them, pop consoles on them, CJ them, whatever it takes to make that sale, TGP traffic does have more than one use "

Is that all what these people are? Blind linking, pop up consoles?? My god, I tought some webmasters had a bit more respect to their customers.

I personally never did any of this and I wish less and less webmasters would do it.

Yes, you can do with a surfer what you want, but the question is, will he ever come back.

Haha thats fine you dont have to be

The fact is, though, these methods work and, have worked for years, if they didnt work, i wouldnt mention them, sure it may piss the surfer off sometimes but, whats more important? Spending a couple of hours building 'clean' sites and them never making you any money or, spending a couple of hours building 'dirty' sites and them converting like crazy?

As i mentioned in a post a couple of days ago, we arent in the entertainment business, we're here to sell porn.

Case in point, i have a site i built over 3 years ago still on our server, it uses consoles galore, banner exchanges, FPA traps and, it is STILL making us sales on a weekly basis.

Sometimes we have to take a step back that surfers are customers and need to be treated as such, yes there is a place for clean sites however, there is also a time and a place to be using dirty sites to, if you have tried everything you can on your clean sites to make a sale and the surfer is still leaving without buying, send em to your dirty site, they have already wasted your bandwidth, you may as well try to make a sale off them to recoup some of your losses.

    Regards,

    Lee

you can't put blind links or enter links on galleries unless you don't mind that no tgps will post them.

i never cease to be amazed at how many people don't understand that you can have good sales off galleries - it all depends on the quality of your sponsor site and the marketing of your galleries. more people never bother to learn how to market with galleries, which is not the same as other marketing. then when their free site or paysite tour marketing doesn't work on the galleries, they say "yup - gallery traffic is very low quality" instead of learning how to do it right.

i have sites i've sent traffic to at a consistant 1:250 off of galleries. sure, they were really good sites, but then why send traffic to a poorly done tour? i send traffic to tours that i know in advance aren't the best tours, and i see a different result, but these are also tours that do much worse with all kinds of traffic.

by the way, when i say good sites, i don't mean necessarily the most attractive sites, but rather sites that really take their niche and run with it - generic text or pics on a site doesn't help sales a bit.

You can put whatever you want on a TGP gallery being linked on a fake tgp that YOU own, you make the rules, not your submitters, because you dont have any submitters

yeah, but blind links don't make sales - nor do generic links. so what's the point of sending more surfers but getting less sales?

The whole point is, traffic isnt just for making sales, its also for building more traffic

If you blind link someone to a toplist for example, you are going to get traffic back from that toplist, possibly a paying surfer

Why don't you try submitting some TGP2 galleries while you're at it. Lol

TGP2 was doomed from the start, a stupid idea and i agree, its not worth the hassle submitting to them, why would a surfer go to a TGP2 site for 5-10 free pics when they can go to a regular TGP and get 20-30 of them? LOL

    Lee

Haha no but, ill tell you what, Webrings DO still pull traffic and, whats better is, its all HIGHLY targeted traffic that can convert if you use it right

Dont shun the methods of old, they worked well then and, some of them do still work now but, as Patti mentioned with TGP posting, its a different type of marketing thats needed for different types of traffic, i wouldnt submit a site to a Toplist using the same methods of marketing i used on a TGP or a Links List.

Its about knowing how to market to your traffic as well as marketing your sponsors sites

    Regards,

    Lee

i'm working toplists for one site right now. it's working okay, but it would work better if there were more - and bigger - toplists for the niche i'm working.

and lee - i've seen people build big tgps and hubs that don't make half the sales of good tgp gallery posting.

Agreed, a couple of the ones im using at the moment, traffic wise, overall, suck however, they do send some traffic that i wouldnt have a chance at getting if i werent using them

I have to. However, at the same time, i also know people who send all of their traffic to their hubs and thats all they do to make sales.

As with anything, its finding a method that works for you on an individual basis, just because i can make sales using our hub, it doesnt mean you'll be able to and vice versa.

The problem is, webmasters get so caught up in what everyone else is doing they dont realize there are more ways to make money from porn, lots more ways.

    Regards,

    Lee
