Senate Calls To Ban Pseudo Child Porn Sites

CHILD MODELING WEB SITE BAN -- (House of Representatives - March 10, 2005)

(Mr. FOLEY asked and was given permission to address the House for 1 minute and to revise and extend his remarks.)

Mr. FOLEY. Mr. Speaker, I want to bring to your attention an underground industry preying on our children, and that is exploitive child modeling Web sites. These Web sites contain images of young girls as young as 4 years of age wearing only their underwear, tiny bathing suits or other suggestive clothing, posing in sexually provocative ways. In most cases, these Web sites are nothing more than child pornography hiding under the guise of child modeling. These Web sites do not sell products, they do not sell services, and they serve our young people on a platter for America's most depraved. These Web sites are nothing more than a fix for pedophiles.

Let us be clear. These are not Web sites used for the modeling industry. No child has been hired as a bona fide model. They are only used to exploit these children.

In fact, these web sites are nothing more than gateways to child and adult pornography.

I have recently introduced legislation that would ban these sites once and for all, the Child Modeling Exploitation Act. This bill will not harm legitimate modeling nor families from being able to post photos of their families on the Internet, but the legislation has been carefully crafted to prevent exploiters from being able to use our children as sexual objects for money.

    http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/query/.../~r1093c4EXk::

I cant beleive we havent heard anything about this on the boards at all, especially as this is basically saying those child modelling sites are basically gateways to legal porn sites

Anyway, back to my search to find out what happened with the Childrens Online safety Bill that was going to be voted on today...

    Regards,

    Lee

Hasn't this approach already been tried, as in COPPA in 1996 or whenever it was?

I mean, I agree that most of them are really CP by another name, skirting the law by not showing sexually explicit stuff... and I am in favor of banning anything that's exploitive of minors, but I don't see how he's going to be able to craft something that's narrow enough to eliminate the so-called "child modeling" sites without trampling on legitimate child modeling sites or, for that matter, Grandma proudly showing off her grandson on her personal website.

That damn pesky First Amendment once again

    hmmmm..... http://www.childsupermodels.com/

Its erotica definatly.... but I have no idea whats inside those sites

But then again if you ask me... child modeling should be also banned... at least until 16 years of age.

I once watched a documentary about child models ... and those are like 6 to 12 years old girls who get dressed up, have make up on and flirt with camera... self confidence is important, but PLEEEEEASE

But then again, Id restrict children appearing in commercials that are no way connected to any child product /its also explotation... We had a certain political party in previous elections that put huge posters,tv ads of children playing, having fun etc... just to put a huge logo of that party over their heads... just sick

i hate and despise all child modeling sites, commercials, tv shows - anything that makes the children act like sexual adults, and makes others (or themselves) perceive them as sexual entities.

on the other hand, remember the first amendment. it's there to protect us all - and a 12 year old vamping in a bathing suit just plain isn't illegal - they sell them at target. do you really want to make it illegal?

notice how much shorter some of these are than others? http://www.target.com/gp/browse.html...&node=13048861
where do you start? do you make it illegal for little girls to mimic their big sisters by wearing sexy clothes? soon everyone would be in jail... it's just not that easy.

It's not the end product that puts people into an outrage. If that were the case people would look at the Wal-Mart flyer in disgust.

It's not about how it's made. These photo shoots don't appear to be any different than any other mainstream modeling shoot.

It's not even about how old the models are. There is no more exploitation of kids going on here than exists in TV, Hollywood and print, which are all full of kids.

What this truly boils down to - and what everyone is upset over - is not the product, but the fact that money is being generated from people with ********* tendencies.

Even if you could somehow guarantee the kids are not being harmed and are in zero danger, people would still be against these sites because of who their target market is.

I do not support or oppose these sites. I don't care either way as long as the kid isn't being abused and they are making enough money for it to be worthwhile to have a job that young.
I post here to whore this sig.

There is no place in adult erotica for children, whether they are clothed or not.

My time raising my son was the best moments of my entire life. I love him deeply and wish he was still alive today.

As a grandfather, I feel so protective and so much love for my grandchild that it is un-fathomable to explain to someone that isn't in a similar situation in life.

My role as a Pornographer ends abruptly where my role as a grandparent begins.

This is not politically correct what I am about to say.
This is not even about legal rights to freedom of expression for me.
In the end, I really don't give a shit about anything else and would be happy to be put out of business. If it spared one child.

    No child for any reason.

Niether for a legal product, service or entertainment, nor, for an ilegal or morally wrong endevour.

Should be exploited or made into a some sort of sexual symbol.

You can call a shovel an ice cream maker but that doesn't change what it is. When you photograph children in their underware, etc. It's child porn.

And if you ask me, Sears catalog doesn't need to print photos of little girls in panties either. A picture of the panties and their size is more then enough.

    **Warning**
I'm am extremly one sided in this belief. I'm not likely to comprimse or carry on any sort of respectful non-pissing debate on this issue. Because I like to be a nice guy, consider this my polite way saying. "I don't want to fight."

And if there is someone out here that deals in child porn. Legal or otherwise, I will gladly print, post and transmit all and any footage of you getting your head torn off. And I don't care if I go to jail because it is considered a snuff film. It would be a honour and I'm sure I would recieve a hero's welcome in prison.
