Hey guys, I need dedicated hosting and after going through tons of review sites for reliable and stable host, I still can't decide:juggle:
Can someone suggest a good host that could take a steady tgp traffic and not be crashed on daily basis... with around 1000 GB bandwidth and under $160?
Whatever your choice make sure your host resides in a country where you have legal recourse if something goes wrong.
Some owners of hosting companies live in countries where it's very difficult find justice, or they can't be extradited if they break the law or screw you over.
Find a host that is in your country, the U.S. or Great Britain as local laws are solid, the legal system works, and they have excellent internet connection speeds. Australia is a great country but it's illegal to host any porn at all on Australian servers, even TGP's.

They are located in the U.S. and give their street address and toll free phone number for support, as well as ICQ and email. They respond to support requests within 1 hour.
A great bunch of people work there and they've always been there for me.

Chilihost doesn't even have a contact phone number on their site or address. All they offer is an ICQ and email addy. The owner doesn't even live in the same country as the servers he's managing! But to each their own. I've never used the Chilihost services so I can't comment on how good or bad they are.

I will recommend Chilhost without any reservations. We have some of our stuff with them and I can say that Luke by far provides the best customer service I have experienced in the 8 years I have been doing this.

I don't think the average person will take the time to scrub DNS info like that to make sure a provider is not hosting illegal material (i guess that would be impossible).
Seems the bottom line for making a hosting decision is price closely followed by good support and friendly service. I don't think anyone mentioned "Up Time" or whether the hosting company was in compliance with the million other laws and best practices that govern the industry.
I wonder if, as people become more savvy, they will begin to examine other aspects of the hosting provider.
For example a christian bible school website may choose not to go with a hosting company the hosts a KKK site on it's servers. That stands to reason - doesn't it?
At this point, in a clustered environment that christian website may very well be hosted on the exact same server as that KKK site. Do people even even think about that stuff when shopping for a host? or is getting the cheapest hosting price the bottom line?
Perhaps we'll see a lot more niche specific hosting in the near future especially as hosting providers may begin to find themselves on the hook (<= this kinda parallels Happysucks thread from earlier: New obligations on Internet Service Providers). Seems like this is already happening Adult Hosting, Christian Hosting, Hosting for Car Dealers and on and on ....
I'd Love some other view points on this ....
