    The Queen Returns

No, Quentin Crisp has NOT returned to the building, but it is with intense joy that I welcome the one and only Madonna back to the party. (Hey, let HER be in charge of the music!) Funny thing is, it seems like she never left to me.

If you haven't seen the video for "Hung Up," you should check it out. It's old-school Madge: just a buncha kids having a good time to the music. And Abba sample aside, I have to say, I think it's pretty damn good music at that.

Oh, Mo... thanx for making me smile.

Haha. Well, we're due for an MJs visit, or something anyway. I need to get more pics for the "Silver Lake Seen" column anyway. But we have projects to talk about...

    Run little ones, RUN!

Something about popstars (such as Ester and Bono) getting involved with politics (never mind lip-locking w/BrittneySpears), makes me want to hurl violently... flush, and hurl again.

    Not my brand of tea!

It's usually a mo, unless I'm too lazy to shave the sides then it kind of turns into a faux. But it's shaved on the sides when I get it. I can't stand that look where people taper the hair to the center and then spike it up. It's like wearing a temporary tatto or temporary piercing. Either you get it or you don't, there's no inbetween.

    Wouldn't yah know, it's a MO!

Glam-punks (beyond contradiction) tend to sport the Beckham inspired trend, known as fauxhawk (glad to hear that I am not the only one annoyed by the abuse of the word/style).

Yah, I was thinkin' clip-on ties.

Well, it may not be your brand of tea, but there's nothing wrong with pop stars or actors or anybody getting involved in politics and using their celebrity to further causes they believe in. I think it's wonderful to see ANY entertainer use their celebrity for the greater good. In fact, the mentality that pop stars should just shut up and sing their little songs is personally insulting to me as an artist msyelf. Pop stars and actors are people too, and everyone is entitled to an opinion. The truth of the matter is that celebrities have the potential to spread the word about great causes and get people to show up for fundraising events that they otherwise wouldn't have. I'm going to one tonight, a benefit for gay marriage with Margaret Cho, Alan Cumming, Pink, Yoko Ono, John Cameron Mitchell, and a few others. And thank God they are doing it. In fact, thank God for ANY pop star who braves the establishment and puts themselves out there politically. Too many people are complacent and lazy when it comes to what goes on in the world, and Bono or Susan Sarandon or Madonna or whoever--they're championing causes that need spokespeople. So you might sit back and pooh-pooh these people all you want, but the fact remains that they are doing something CONSTRUCTIVE with their celebrity instead of just sitting around bitching about the world. In my humble opinion, they deserve applause, not catty, bitchy, jealous remarks.
