Gay webmasters doing Straight sites

Hi guys. I always see people on the panels of conventions talking about Straight webmasters doing Gay sites, if it's possible, if it works, and all that. We all know Straight webmasters can do excellent Gay sites (even though there are a few who disagree with this) and we all know there are a few Straight webmasters who have made terrible Gay sites. However, how many Gay webmasters make Straight sites? I've never seen this subject really talked about.

I started out working in straight stuff and did so for several years. I thought it was great and there certainly is a larger audience to sell to. For me, it is simple -- it is all about selling.

I dont do anything in it anymore because I am simply too busy. And it has gotten to be even more competitive than ever. But I think they keys to success are the same in straight as they are in gay -- exclusive content, hot models, finding a niche that is not oversaturated, and giving the members what you tell them they are gonna get.

It's not "traditional" straight sex, as the focus is on the male and the women are often not fully naked. But it's a very interesting experiment for a gay webmaster to attempt. I think that Squirt has said that he's been doing something similar for a while, though Jake seems to have "cornered the market" simply out of the amount of press he's garnered for his new site. We are, in fact, running stories in the next issue of AVN Online.

You call them straight, as in, they appeal to straight men, not gay men, like the Jake Cruise site you mentioned, i know.. Its confusing LOL

We have straight guys, which is a gay niche and we have straight sites (teens, lesbians, mature, ebony, tranny) which are a straight niches... See what i mean about it being confusing? LOL

Hmmmm, OK, but does that mean that traditional hetero sex sites are not "straight sites" then? I've never heard this philosophy before. I'm intrigued.

Is this common thought among webmasters? I asked around here at AVN Online, and everyone seems to be scratching their heads over this.

I know what you're saying, but I was just using him as an example of a gay webmaster who is experimenting with his craft. I'm sorry to confuse the point with my tongue-in-cheek post. Lee was referring only to straight sites (sites intended for straight men looking for hetero/lesbian porn)

My comment was meant to be a jab at all of the straight webmasters that pop into GWW and want us to tell them everything we know so they can make sites in the "gay niche". It's my pet peeve! GAY IS NOT A NICHE! Lol. So, just to be an asshole, I like to call everything included in the straight market just a niche. It's my little way of getting even.
