NEW YORK - The 13 independent radio stations not owned and operated by Infinity Broadcasting have rejected the replacements lined up by Infinity after December 16, when Howard Stern leaves for subscriber-supported Sirius Radio, according to today’s New York Post.

Infinity’s own stations will air David Lee Roth in the East, Adam Carolla in the West and some guy named Rover in the Midwest, the newspaper reported.

An insider told the New York Post, “The incredibly profitable empire Howard built is being splintered, and the execs at Infinity can’t keep it together.”

A station manager told The Washington Post, “Stern’s departure is the worst natural disaster to hit a media company in the decade.”
