    Domain names with hyphens

    Hello

I read an older thread about domain names and everybody rejected domain-names with hyphens. Everybody wanted short names in one word
    especially with .com like

    - mybigcock.com
    - yourshavedpubes.com
    - menlikeboys.com

Since SE's do not read the hyphens or the _ in my opinion it wouldn't hurt anybody to buy a domain like

    - my-big-cock.com
    - your-shaved-pubes.com (and I like that)
    - men-like-boys.com - .net or whatever

In contrary you would even have phrase in your url. The SE would pick up (in case of the last one) men, like (silly) and boys. In top of that it picks up the phrase.

I'm not so sure if an SE would pick up "Idonotliketwinks.com" but it certainly picks up the phrase "I-do-not-like-twinks.com".
Maybe this was a bad examle.

    Let's try again: shavedpubes.com
An SE can not recognize this word in my opinion but if you have an url like

    shaved-pubes.com

it will and you have the chances that you are found under the term of shaved, pubes and in top of that a very big chance to pop up on the "first" place if anybody searches for "shaved pubes" because you have this domain.

I think phrases are king. Nobody insers in google blackbigcock, google does untlil no not know what to do with it I think.
Instead a human being would search for "black big cock". If you have the domain "black-big-cock.com" in my opinion you are the king of black big dings..

Thick that phrases get more and more important in the future and already now than single words as well.

    What do you think?

You do realize by 'gay' I mean a man who has sex with other men?

With Google changing its algorythms on a regular basis i certainly dont think it would hurt to have both hyphenated and non-hyphenated versions of a domain however, my personal opinion is still that a on-hyphenated domain, in the long run, is a better choice to make if you can register them.

    Regards,

Thank you Lee for your opinion - I suck it in. Seem to be the only one that thinks hyphenated, especially after having read that older post...

I have websites with hyphens in the name. Google treats them just fine. I think that what is more important is to have a domain name that fits the generally accepted defination of a name.

A long list of words strung together by hyphens is nothing people walk around speaking on the tips of their tongues, and the search engines will recognize that.

It makes sense to name a dog Nero. But probably not Nero Claudius Caesar Augustus ThisThatAndTheOther Germanicus.
