    Member Access for Affiliates?

Is it of benefit to an affiliate program to allow access to the member area of the site they are selling? I find that "endorsements" of sites usually results in better sales, and if an affiliate can see what they are selling, it makes sense to let 'em in and poke around.

Would you be more likely to promote a site if you know what members get?

This is a question about the new program I'm working on, not any kind of criticism about current programs. I'm thinking of some kind of qualification process, like sending x number of hits, rather than just giving access to every affiliate that signs up. I can see surfers signing up just to get in for free.

Yes it definately helps being able to give affiliates a limited access to the members areas of a paysite.

Thats actually something we're working on right now too.

Also, thumbs of the members area is a good tool for affiliates, especially if they are able to use them in their marketing

I think it is a great idea to allow affiliates to see the members area of the sites they are promoting. I know back in the days when I promoted other sponsors, it was much easier to sell sites that I had been into and knew what they were offering.

I have no problems setting up access to our members area for affiliates that want to see itbefore selling. I do this one by one and cant see automating it or having a blanket policy of giving all affiliates access. But if I check them out and find they are legit promoters, it certainly helps us both.

I do get some requests from people that are obvious scammers, surfers that think they can sign up for the affiliate program and get free access so they dont have to be a member. But that is pretty easy to weed out, I qualify them and look at their sites or however they are going to promote before giving it.

    Suki,

You hit the nail right on the head there, a few years back we gave a couple of affiliates a u/p for one of our sites and, literally, within 10 minutes it ended up on one of the trading sites we checked on regularly.

Another GREAT tool that can help affiliates promote a site is a breakdown of what is included with a surfers membership, this is actually something ive been working on for the last few weeks with Condom Cash and we should have the first sites breakdown posted on the support forum on Monday

Every little thing you can do to help affiliates counts.

    Regards,

    Lee

Agreed Suki. We have no problem with giving time limited access to affiliates who we already know are trustworthy and of course to those that run established review. We would never give every affiliate that signs up access. We get so many submissions from people listing dead sites or tiny personal web sites with zero traffic...

Lee, That's exactly the type of thing I'm always looking for when it comes to promoting peoples sites.

The more I know about a site and the more tools or options available for promoting the site the easier it is to send great traffic that converts to customers. :light:

If I like a sponsor and I think (or know) that I will be successfull with promoting them, I will just buy a membership. And if the sponsor has a poor selection of banners or doesn't offer FPA's, I will use softcore images from the member's area to make my own ad materials.

I like when sponsors give a password for the day so I can poke around and take some screenshots. One of my sponsors only offers free content this way...you download what you want and cut and compress the movies yourself. I *much* prefer that way so I can make the clips as teasing as possible....a lot of times free content shows all the good stuff.

I think screen shots of the members area.
Along with good descriptions of the options, items on that page.
Are good enough to get a "flavor" of the site.

Now, if you have a good producer who wants access.
    Give it to him.

Providing member's area access to web masters has been benificial, for us: they get to see what they are promoting, it saves me time from gathering semi-unique content (different packages for each web master) and they tend to work harder for us.

Once the web masters uses up all our free content, I'll provide them with access for one-day (more than that is not really needed, as far as I am concerned) to all sites . Not many abuse the generous offer, but when they do (such as streaming entire videos, multiple times), I'll either send them a reminder of what they are suppose to be doing, or I'll simply terminate the access.

Providing affiliates with access and content representative of the member's areas is helpful from a program owner's view too. Especially towards avoiding creating unrealistic expectations in the surfers that the member's areas can't possibly live up to.

I can provide some feedback here. There are paysites that I could promote more successfully if only I had a better knowledge of their specific content which lays beyond their impenetreble membership access wall.

For example, one paysite that always looked good for me was LucasEntertainment.com. After all, Michael Lucas movies are all uniformily good quality, a known brand name and they have a dedicated following of fans.

However, it was difficult to gleen with certainty that paid members can watch the entire movies online. I had to ask a Lucas employee at Internext what true benefits await members. He verified that they did, so I then wrote explicitly in my Lucas movies "Join LucasEntertainment to watch this and all other fine Lucas films as often as you want"

At that point I started selling memberships. A simple banner ad with an animated gif that brands their domain name produces nothing for affiliates.
You have to have more specifics, and you have to sell their product.

Now FalconXXX did offer me a membership, and in looking around their site I saw that they had a complete "Alone With...." interview with him on their site. It's like panning a rushing river for flakes of gold! So I added an affiliate link to my Carlos Morales profile explaining how fans can see his complete Alone With interview. And that has sold Falconxxx memberships.

JuicyGoo Brian does a good job picking out a model that people are buzzing about, and affiliate linking the hungary reader to a paysite that offers vids and model sets. I do think that there is a lot of opportunity out there for marketing, and that is the real value of affiliate marketing.

I have asked for paysite memberships from time to time, if I want to spend some solid time figuring out new marketing angles that generate sales. Typically I have met the owners at a trade show or on here, and we are comfortable with each other. This further underscores the benefits of attending trade shows, and taking some time to examine website opportunities and writing up good ad copy that makes both parties money.

I like marketing paysites that have such good tours, that I know exactly what the paysite offers without having to get into the membership area.
