fast ftp client programs

I just discovered that cuteFTP is somehow throttling my bandwidth for ftp downloads. Can anyone recommend a different, extremely fast FTP client?

How did you find that out bud?

Ive been havig download probs with Cute for a while now and would be interested in finding out how much its killing the download speeds from our server too.

Just for the fun of it...try SFTP (secure FTP) and see if that makes any difference with Cute FTP.

We are using windows comander without any problems here.

Lee, I found it out because now I am on a 2mbps connection and my ftp'ing is totally slow with cuteFTP, but everything else is lightning fast. I even compared doing the same file download via http and cuteFTP and it was like 3x as long through cuteFTP.

I will try sftp and windows commander, thanks for the tips!

I use Smart FTP

I really like it.

We do most of our transfers through secure FTP (either SFTP or FTP over SSH), and we use either Van Dyke Secure FX or Seagull FTP. I'm personally a little more drawn to Secure FX, but that's prolly because I've been using it for a while, and I like the fact that it supports multiple connections to multiple servers at the same time.

FTP Manager Lite is an excellent modern free FTP and SFTP client software. The clean interface is super easy to use. It will perform your files transfers quickly and efficiently. One of the best freeware FTP clients.
