2007 Internext NOT in March

Hey folks, this was posted on the GFY board yesterday by the trade show organizer Renee Johnson:
Internext 2007 Dates

Thanks for all your feedback over the last few days regarding Internext (good and bad). I just wanted to let you all know that we are not finalizing dates in March of 2007. This was a big mistake due to the proximity of other shows. We are doing everything we can to remain in our established time frame (early January), while steering clear of the craziness of CES and AEE. We will come up with some plausible options as far as venues and availability over the next few weeks and will be posting a link for you all to cast your vote.

Looks like we'll not be going to Vegas next year then if its going to be the same time as this year

By moving to a different date, Internext at least had a chance of surviving.

Well, there were many who complained that if we moved the show to March, they would not attend as well. So I guess that old adage is true that you just can't please everyone.

If I'm not mistaken, Renee is asking for webmasters to give their two cents so that we can better accomodate more of you. I would take this opportunity to put your two cents in at the very least. Head on over to that thread and raise your voice.

Just be aware that we are open to your criticism and are attempting to make the show as beneficial to as many people as possible.

Ken, its not that people wouldnt attend because of the timing, its that people wouldnt attend because of the Phoenix show being at the end of March and, quite honestly, i dont think there is anyone who would attend both Internext and Phoenix in the same month for the pure fact that Phoenix, for many, is a much more enjoyable and profitable show hands down.

Perhaps if Vegas was moved to February it would be better all round?

That's actually the point of this thread, to find out when you would rather us plan it.

No i didnt miss it, was just explaining why people said they wouldnt be attending in March if it was left at that time slot

Likewise, if you run a search for 'internext' on GWW you'll find a bunch of reasons from people as to why they dont attend in January also, the primary reason being that it is to expensive to get hotel rooms and flights AND passes.

I've complained for a number of years about Internext being held right after the holidays. For many, money is tight, airports are still jammed. It's just a horrible time.

Suggest to Renee that mid or late January would be better. This year was particularly bad. Crowds were outrageous, hotels were expensive, valet parking was tough to use and wait for cabs way too long.

I think we pretty made the decision that this would be our last year if it continues to be held the week after New Year's.

Please pass this on to Renee. We are one of those who don't post on GFY.

Good thing they are not running it in March, that would shoot themselves in the foot. Hopefully mid or late January would be perfect.
