Anyone see the new Orbitz gay travel commercial?

I hate it, it makes my skin crawl
    http://www.commercialcloset.org/cgi-...tml?record=768

I hate this stereotype that shows gay men acting like 7 year old girls.
I dont think I ever met a gay man who act like that.
Touching our chests with our mouths open, prancing around and skipping. It makes me want to puke, this really bugs me.

I mean, I appreciate them having the balls to put gay people on tv, and in todays environtment where the religious right will protest and harass companies who are friendly to the gay community it does takes balls, but they could be a little more realistic and a little less peculiar and strange.

I think the irony of having Wink Martindale acting as the host is sublime. I mean, he looks like such a republican Senator with that plastic hair and phony smile. But yes, the sterotypes annoy the fuck out of me too. Orbitz is a famously gay-friendly work enviroment. But apparently their ad agency thinks that all gay men are drag queen wannabes.

Touching our chests with our mouths open
My partner calls that "clutching your pearls". Lol.

Btw, the bald guy with the purple shirt (despite his queenie mannerisms) is hot.

Ya I hate that crap too, but str8 guys like gay people that they know are 100% flaming and women like guy guys that are less attractive that them. What can you do, I know this might no be a “political correct” thing to say but I hate this whole cross dressing thing too. I really wish more gay people would not support them as much, they really create a bad image for us. Like the whole leather chaps crap, If I see one more gay parade filled with freaks I am going to puke too.

Now I know I am going to hear about this

How about a gay parade filled with attractive young guys with their shirts off, maybe that would begin to open peoples eyes rather than just giving them more stereotypes to associate with us. You think they would have a black power parade with black guys smoking crack on the floats, or with gang members, guns ECT?

Frankly, what you said 'new guy' is definately your opinion, one you are entitled to, but is as narrow minded as the religious right's view. It is diversity that makes a nation, not what or who is politically correct these days. Whether you understand it or not, they should be entitled to the same rights & respect that you demand.

Personally, I don't understand cross dressing, but they aren't freaks simply because they make a different choice than you. Not everyone is into hot young guys or pretty boys either, and as much as many don't understand their preferences, they don't necessarily understand yours.. but no one is a freak, nor do they deserve to be called such simply because you are unable to fathom where they come from.

oh and in case you forgot your history New Guy, it was the people you labelled as freaks the broke open the Gay Rights movement... the transvestites in New York.. without their guts, there wouldn't be even a discussion now on whether two guys could marry, hell they'd still be trying to stay out of jail for committing felonies... so to label them as freaks... in my view... way out of line. Disagree with them, but please, don't label things and people you don't understand with some derogatory name

I just really dont see why we should be celebration something that is “in my opinion” a borderline mental illness. I think its just another weapon to use agents us, how may kids first views of homosexuality involves this kinda thing. I just really think at least this should not be the first foot we are putting forward. This is the same kind of thing that the black community is caught up in, people are afraid to speak out or be labeled as a “Uncle Tom” or some such thing.

By hiding these so called 'borderline menatl' people, you are saying in essence that only normal gays are worthy of acceptance. The issue of equal rights must pertain to all facets of all races, creeds, religions, and sexual orientation.. otherwise, its just priveleged rights. Whites kept blacks in slavery for ages because they felt morally and racially superior. Blacks weren't their equal, so they deserved to be thought of as property. Now tranny's or flamers are less than us normal gays because well gee, they are borderline mental...

Equal rights simply don't work that way. Equal means just that. You can't pick and choose who is worthy and who isn't. It is the same argument being used against gays... that it is a choice or that gays are sinners therefore can't be allowed to have equal rights... and again, i will say, labelling people out of ignorance of what and who they are makes you no different than the people who you are trying to appease or gain your own equal rights from.

i thought so too, but once I see someone hot do something that turns me off I dont like them anymore. :3ymca:

thats why I turn the volume down when I watch porn, so I can enjoy watching the guy without hearing him say something that will make me stop liking him

I do not have a problem with equal rights, its just not something that we should be highlighting. Ask any str8 guy what they think a gay club is like, the first think out of their mouth will be cross dresser. Their are cross dresser but they are a minority. Really all “fetishes” are all forms of mental illness

fetishism - Syndrome involving the use of inanimate objects (the fetish) for sexual arousal. This is typically a male disorder. Commonly used fetishes are objects associated with females, for example, women's undergarments, stockings, shoes, or other articles of clothing

Frankly I think you have a great deal of problems with equal rights and ethics as well. You cannot choose who gets the rights, that doesn't make them equal... and when you denegrade a segment by alluding to them being mental, or 'borderline mental' you are the one doing more damage for the gay rights cause than they are.

In case you haven't figured it out New Guy, your use of 'mental' is exactly what the religious rights use against gays. They claim anyone who is gay has a mental disorder, that it is not just against God's plan but against the natural order. And here you are, pushing that same BS because you are unable to fathom why some are different than you.

You may have no problem with equal rights, but equal rights sure has one with you.

Look what we are talking about is a mental disorder there is no 2 ways about it. I do not believe people with disorders should have less rights. I understand from your reaction that allot of this as hit to close to home. I just believe that more of us should recognize this for what it is. If you do not believe it is a mental disorder I can provide many more links for you. :kelly:

The vast majority of conservatives and christians also believe that all homosexuality is a mental illness. I could provide many links for you as well.

You Nomad... er... um... I mean... NewGuy are obviously about 18 or 19 years old and have a VERY limited world view. Grow up first before you give your uninformed opinions to a room full of adults. Otherwise you look like an idiot.

Besides, what does your ignorant tirade about fetishes have to do with the Orbitz ad? The ad doesn't feature anyone in drag, leather or other fetish clothing... just some effeminate looking men.
