    Ipod software?

What is some good software to get music onto my Ipod? ITunes is a pain in the ass.

    Thanks,

Yeah not very user friendly unless you actually buy music off their site.

What don't you get about it? It's pretty easy from what I can gather so far. I just got a 30GB video iPod last week, and I haven't had any problems getting my music onto my iPod yet using iTunes.

Don't you just select which songs you want to download to your player and then hit the button?

By the way, in case this helps, I was using Dell Music Jukebox for my iRiver .mp3 player for a while. It was really easy to use, and I believe you can export songs to any type of player, so long as it is compatible with .mp3 files. You can probably get the Music Jukebox software online.

I have cd's I bought that I am trying to get onto my IPod. For some reason when I import them even as mp3's I get an error.

Ahhh, I see. I haven't tried that yet. But let me try it tonight.

But here's a tip: If iTunes keeps screwing with you, try using the Music Jukebox software I was telling you about, then importing the files into iTunes. Just as a temporary fix. Let me see what I can figure out on my end.

I just downloaded last week's episode of The Office onto my player. It's sooo schweet!

Thanks for checking into that. I will try that Music Jukebox software as well.

Yeah I have seen The Office a couple times, it is very funny. Have a good one.

OK, I just did it with two different CDs and it worked for me both times. I just inserted my CDs into the E drive, then selected which songs I wanted to import, then clicked on "Import CD." Then, after connecting my iPod to my computer, I dragged the songs from my iTunes library onto "Ken's iPod," and they were there. So, it's working for me.

Is that how you are doing it?

OMG thank you so much. That wasn't how I was doing it. I already had imported the cd's before into Windows Media Player so I was trying to import them from there onto the IPod, I thought that would be easier. Your suggestion worked perfectly, thanks again.

Here's what I do. I made a new playlist then just keep adding songs to it as I see fit. Then, after I hook up the ipod, I go into preferences and check the name of that playlist to be automatically updated. Now, every time I hook up my ipod to my comptuer to recharge, it automatically adds any new songs I've added to that playlist.

I want to eventually have all my music on my comptuer in my ipod, but the file names are all messed up. I have a feeling it's going to take months to go through and rename everything. I've got 5,000 tracks. Yikes! A bunch of them are nothing more than snippets of movies, or free songs I downloaded from websites that I'll never listen to again and all that crap. But I know I have at least 4,000 good songs. So I'm going to really have to redo the whole thing. Ugh.

I love love love, my little ipod shuffle. It's the perfect size for me, like to jog with it. Don't forget about the browse function in the library. It searches by genre, artist, and album, it's a great tool to keep your library in order if you have hundreds or thousands of songs.

Windows Media Player is evil! LOL! They take the songs and convert them into mp4s or something, and they won't allow you to convert them into mp3s. I've given up using Media Player for any kind of music purposes. I hate that thing. Plus when I've burned CDs using that software, the sound is always terrible.

Yeah it doesn't look like there is a way to do it. I guess since they are competition with each other they would never allow something like that, .
