Do you like "interviews" in your porn?

Do you like when they interview the actor/actress in the movie before he/she has sex?
and they ask his name, where he's from, age, why hes doing it, etc before hand?
Is that a turnon or a turnoff for you?

You do realize by 'gay' I mean a man who has sex with other men?

Personally speaking, no i dont however, from a business perspective, it would be a good way to give a site personality.

If they're good at it. Some are nice, friendly and personable. Others are stiff, look forced or uncomfortable, and give one or two word phrases for answers.

I also wouldn't want to know that they're a Walmart hair stylist from Jersey if it's a hardcore leather flick. Save that buzzkill for after the money shot, or as a bonus clip. LOL.

So it depends on the model and the context of the video I suppose.

I like them, if they are done right. Not sure if i'd want it at the start, unless it was, I don't know, germain to the upcoming attraction.

I found that Citiboyz did interviews for the one of the first of their flicks I saw, Tent Poles I think it was, and I found the 'interviews' enjoyable. It wasn't so much asking questions as the model/star just talking more of himself and things, made it a whole lot more interesting... now if only they'd have said where they would have been the coming saturday...

Plus I think it could be an excellent marketing tool if you had other videos with those actors in them, they could push them in the so called interview... i mean some fall for an actor, ya know like that Kelly Taylor or Pierre Guys? Be nice to have them tell you what other movies they are in...:signhere:

I can recommend Citi Boyz's Real & Raw Las Vegas double feature as an interesting and charming interview method. I would think that interviews would be a fantastic marketing tool for a movie or website studio. The cautions on this thread are also valid. Some of Falcon's Alone With one on one segments are wonderful for the fan of that particular model.

Raging Stallion will sometimes have Michael Brandon or JD Slater interviewing a model over in the DVD extras. Those can make a good "extra" for a DVD.... and I'm always interested in the quest to create a noteworthy dvd extra.

Consider renting any of those for some pointers on the "production side" of the equation.

I fast forward through the undressing and foreplay, so interviews are just one more thing to fast forward through....

but then I am kind of ultra slutty, so I am probably not the best gauge of porn buyer's preferences......

Interviews are good to use, however the model has to be interesting and playful for them to work. Most of the time I fast forward through them because the model (and most of the time the interviewer) doesn’t seem lively and into doing the work.

Randy from RandyBlue, Sha from AmateurHunks (our site), and Pat at PatandSam normally do good model interviews. They all have a knack for getting the models to open and respond back in a playful and alive manner, but know when to kill the interview and get to the sex.
You'll get more with a kind word and a 2 by 4 then you'll get with just a kind word.

That all depends on whether or not they are capable.
I've seen some interviews that totally destroyed the image (and fantasy) I had of the model.

thats my problem with the interviews.
In my head the guy on camera is a tough butch foreman on a construction site, but then in the interview he's a hairdresser from jersey and it kills the mood for me.

I like them to a point. I wish they would do more of the interview throughout the jerkoff scene actually. I like to hear a guy talk dirty while he's playing with himself.

I think a lot of the interviews go on a little too long.

As a reviewer, I definately can see what all the various advantages are to taking the time to have a model fill out an "interview" along with signing the release paper and giving himself a full working porn name.

    From a marketing perspective:
    1.Your model now has a name ... not DSC010011001_pic002.jpg

    2. Blogs and review sites jump onto guys that they can find information on to blog about and UPSELL your program.

    3. There are surfers who know models and stats and can ramble those off like the stats on a Babe Ruth baseball card. They are also likely to search for sites using a favorite model as a search term.

    4. You can now promote individual models via your freesites, avs sites, fhgs, etc and develop a following for anything that includes them in future releases. Text just became a whole hell of a lot easier, and the softcore interview clips often lead to "see the full video" signups. They serve the same purpose when wanting to tease your membership with an upcoming dvd release within your paysites as well.

    5. Tracking gallery clicks and getting surfer feedback about particular models also helps you determine future productions and possible mini-niche site develpments.

i like interviews , it gives the model presence/personality/etc. but as mentioned this only works if the model is "enthusiastic" ( it comes across as boring and monotone if the model is dull )
i'm very thankful that i only have 2 models that give no interviews! ( deaf )

sincerely ~ ..."a picture is still worth a thousand words"... :goof:

    a side note:

i like the "behind the scenes" featurettes some of the studios are including on their dvd's , i like to hear certain models speak "normally" without the same "crappy-lines" i've heard since the 70's in their "repotoire"

    sincerely ~

i agree with bec completely. and to fill it in, interviews allow the viewer to have a feeling of involvement with the model.

i like interviews. if the model is stiff or uncomfortable, a shorter interview makes him seem shy - and if you're not sure shy is how he's coming off, write about that in the text.

i have seen some interviews that were not a plus to the videos. interviews where the interviewer keeps talking about non sexual stuff while the guy is jacking off is misleading as it's splitting both the model's attention and the viewers. frank did one interview video - his first - where he was talking to the model about his cooking career while the guy was hard and jacking off. it obviously made it more difficult for the model to keep it up, and it certainly made it harder for me to think about sex while this guy is telling us how he got his first chef position *LOL* i've seen stuff like that on other videos, too.

interviews that talk about one thing for an extended period of time can be boring. like a guy talking about his college major for 10 minutes - that's why editing exists!

but a i feel that a well-edited interview is a plus to almost any video.
