Do you guys listen to any podcasts while you work? I'm totally addicted to Feast Of Fools. These guys are so funny. What do you listen to while you work?

I mostly have my iPod on "Shuffle Songs," so I'm basically just listening to all my fave tunes all day long.

Last night I spent 3 hours transferring tunes from CDs to my computer, then to my iPod. Hell, I may even start selling off some of those CDs that are taking up too much space!

Oh, yeah. I dumped all the mp3's on my hard drive into my itunes and it's one big mess because all the file names are messed up. I'm thinking I need to empty it and start again by importing each folder at a time. I love my ipod, but getting it to the point I'd like it is going to be quite a task.

Hmmmm, mine transferred really easily. If any file names came up wrong, I immediately corrected them. I'm so anal about stuff like that. I love the little pictures they show of the album cover on the iPod screen. I hate when those don't pop up for all songs. But oh well.

I still have a lot more to go until I'm done with this project. My only concern is that what if I upload all these songs to my computer, then get rid of the original CDs, then my hard drive crashes? And what do I do when I buy a new computer? How do I transfer all those files from one to the other? Do I have to burn tons of CDs with these mp3 files on them in order to back-up?

I'm getting an external drive that has something like 200 plus gigs and just backing up everything. My buddy recommended this iomega one that has an easy backup function. And being external, you can always just transfer everything back off of it if you move to a new computer.

That's a cool idea. How do you get the files onto it? No burning involved, right? Just transferring of info from one source to another?

Yeah, it plugs into your USB port and sits on a desk or on top of your tower. You just transfer all of your data to it. It's bascially just like a hard drive except it's not inside your computer. I imagine getting files from it is probably slower than an internal one so it wouldn't really substitute for an internal one, but for backing up, and extra storage, it sounds great.

Well, if you get one, then you have to tell me about it, and then you have to come over and show me how it works when I buy mine!
