When gay or porn shows up in a TV Show

I know I'm not the only one that has the tv on in the background while sitting here and working, and there are lots of occassions when gay or porn creeps into the script of some show either during a talkshow, or a series. Was just wondering what some of you remember hearing lately, and the context.

Like the other night on Leno, some guy is on, and is talking about himself and his brother, and how he's the one that should of been gay (but isn't) and quips off "I mean, seriously, look at my shoes" ... and then goes on to say how homophobic his brother tries to be. So he tells his brother, oh hell, everyone is a homosexual at some level, just others are more obvious about it. And of course the brother disagrees ... I ain't no fag type stuff.

Yes you are, and I can prove it. You like porn right?
Brother: Hell yea, you know I do. I love watching men and women having sex.
Well, you like seeing guys with small flacid looking cocks?

Brother: Hell no! I want to see thick monster ripping ......

at which point he stops and realizes what he has just admitted.

Then on CSI last nite we have two of the guys in a dessert hunting for clues.

1 st guy "Everytime I come out to the dessert I always see porn mags lying around. Who would come out here to look at spank?"

2nd guy "Probably just blows in from the highway, people tossing them out the window."

1st guy "Toss out? You don't toss away porn! It becomes part of the family legacy that gets passed down through the generations..."

From just these two examples of "in passing" commentary, I would tend to believe that there's a more relaxed attitude about both gays and porn than most Americans care to admit. Anyone else got a thought or example?

I think its funny how almost every show that ever has anything to do with porn puts it in a bad light, like on cop shows they are always investigating people in porn that are also murderers or sex abusers, but you never see Jack from Will and Grace sitting at a computer doing a live sex show.

kind of on the same topic is another one of my peeves, when shows deal with technology and get it totally wrong, for instance when they mention an IP address being 516.403.100.2 which is impossible. But then again, I also notice that almost every American TV show always uses a 555 phone number like 555-3847 when giving out phone numbers.

That's because there isn't a 555 area code. It was reserved just for commercial usage like you see on tv, I would assume the same thing is happening with the isp number.

LOL yep that about sums it up...

And then there's cartoons which are just riddled with porn references. Family Guy comes to mind.

You do realize by 'gay' I mean a man who has sex with other men?

there probably is more relaxed attitude.
I think people watch, but those who don't admit doing it are probably afraid of being called something and labeled with the perv or gay tag.

And if they do admit to it it's probably around people they feel comfortable with

That's a valid observation. Most are ruled by peer pressure, and if it isn't fashionable to think or feel a certain way most tend to pretend to go along with what appears to be the majority.

Actually, CSI has used porn, or at least the fetish lifestyles aspect of it in quite a few of their scripts. I still recall the one they did of the guy into the Adult Diaper scene, had the huge babycrib, playpen, big pacifiers and bottles, the whole nine yards. I bet it was interesting being the prop person for that one!

It's also interesting to imagine the writers searching the porn sites online for ideas for future episodes.

Haha bec! Your examples were hilarious.

And I agree about Family Guy but I think The Simpsons has even more gay references and they are always in good humor... never homophobic.
