How long is too long?

Ok, so i contracted a few design companies to do some design work. And a few of them are taking a little too much time in my opinion to give me something to look at. How long do you think is too long to be waiting from the time I gave them a deposit to start the work?

What sort of work?

Affiliate program designs can take about a week, paysites, generally speaking, take about 4-5 days, banners and other promo tools can take up to 2 weeks depending on the quality / quantity.

I like to make sure i get a turnaround time from the designer prior to paying a deposit, the guy i just recently hired said he'd be able to get me a complete paysite with all promo tools and a members area every week for the next month and thats what im gonna be holding him too

It was fairly simple work. A header for a site, logo design, and a handful of banners.

Id say that was 7-10 days max based on my previous experience however, it also depends on how much work the designer currently has on their plate, dont forget, a lot of designers get many more clients than they can physically manage each month

Haha. Ok, you got me. I AM a size queen.

It's been 2 full weeks for one and 3 for the other.

One of them took my money pretty fast. Responded to all my initial emails fast, and now I hear nothing.

No, I did not. They responded fast. So I figured they were slow and would be working on it right away. When I'm busy, i'm not jumping over new work fast.

I even sent an email earlier this week, asking for an update, and nothing. Last week, their update was "we'll be showing you something soon."
