Is it just me..or do black men get the "short end" of it in gay porn?

I know there are a few "super" stars in porn that are African American, but I have to say, that oh, 80% of all porn I've seen that have black men in it is either:

    1)POOR quality! lightening, sound etc.
    2)Frankly, they is ugly!
3)Doesn't seem to have any "plot" to it..just directly to all action.

When black men KNOWN..or should that be "known" for their SIZE, I'm suprised there's not more SUPER stars out there in the African American society.

You do realize by 'gay' I mean a man who has sex with other men?

    Slade,

I was actually doing some research in to the gay black niche the other week and, for the most part i tend to agree with you

The one thing however that i really couldnt get my head around was the apparant lack of gay black models out there, all things being equal, you would imagine that there would be just as many black gay men as there are white guys.

    Regards,

    Lee

I think this is SLOWLY changing. Chi Chi LaRue and Doug Jeffries have been instrumental in bringing more color to the porn business, with not only blacks and Latinos (Jeffries' specialty), but Asian as well (Brandon Lee is a Rascal exclusive). Chi Chi has always used black models in her vids. Jeffries just directed "Lights & Darks," which was a movie pairing white guys with men of color. Grey Rose Productions is also really doing their part to bring more black men into the fold. They started a whole line devoted to African American men.

I wonder if perhaps black men and other men of color just think that there is not a place for them in porn b/cuz of how they've been handled in the past...???

You know i actually thought about that right after i hit submit on my post above.

I wonder though, rather than them thinking that there isnt a place for them, it could be that they are scared of how the black community will view them, from what i recall, being gay and black, in that community has more stigma attached to it than being gay and white does so im wondering if it is more a 'black community' thing that a 'gay community' thing?

Perhaps we could get a couple of the guys we have on GWW who would know about this to chime in a little, Diesel, do you have any input on this topic?

    Regards,

    Lee

From what I know about it “being on the down-low” is very common in the black community. I just think the big problem is most are not able to be proactive and make quality movies ECT for them self’s. Most of the people that join ebony sites are not black, hell not many black people online at all. They are just lagging behind and paying the price.

Diesel is on his way to visit a cousin in Florida, so he probably won't see this for a couple days.

We have had this discussion, and he indicated to me that there is definitely an inclination to be "on the downlow" for gay black men, when it comes to being involved in porn online. I think they can be more open about it if they are in str8 porn, but there is definitely an apprehension about being associated with an openly gay site.

Well I think you could say that about all most every str8/BI guy no mater what race. I would really be shocked to learn it was harder to get black people to do gay porn that anyone else, in fact I bet it would bet it’s easier, allot of them are cash needy. Maybe one solo set and I think they would be ready to go, but I don’t really know first hand.

from slade: "Frankly, they is ugly!" a racist remark? that made me feel really sad i wasn't suprised by maxpower's horrible racist comment, which btw, is wrong.

are you looking at different gay porn than i am? a while ago, i ordered a bunch of stuff from wwc and the guys are fucking hot, and if there isn't an overall plot (although there often is), there are plots within each scene. and wwc has lots of black gay content. dennis lincoln comes to mind first as a name gay pornstar who looks good.

aside from that, a lot of the black porn in straight is black women with white men. and when you go to companies like ounique, you'll see the same - VERY few black women with black men. aside from guys like lex steele and mr marcus, it appears that either the porn companies or the black pornstars would rather not have black guys on video.

That is about the tackiest comment I have seen in a while. Not even worth a dignified answer.

ACK! You did NOT just go there! Oh my...

Well, this may be true, but you know how it is: To speak of it is usually considered rather tacky and vulgar just the same.

I don't think Slade was saying all black men are ugly, just some of the ones they use in gay porn. And, for the record, I would have to agree with him. I've seen a lot of porn using black men where the guys are not pretty at all. But then I'm also of the mindset that a LOT of gay porn stars -- black, white, Asian, Latino, or whatever -- are not all that attractive. Mostly the twinks. Emaciated, scrawny boys who look like they haven't eaten in weeks. Nasty.

I know allot of people think that, but if we can not even talk about the problem how are we going to do anything about it. Being “politically correct” can be taken to far, but I will drop it.
