    Best Program for Virus Protection?

Can anyone here recommend the best program to combat viruses?
My computer seems to have gotten hit and has crashed.

I was using Mcafee before, but don't think it helped much.

    Cheers,
    D.

    I use

a program called PC-cillin internet security from Trend Micro

    http://www.trendmicro.com/en/home/us/personal.htm

I have used this program for 2 years now and it is great. It scans your system for everything in real time and doesn't use as many system resources as Norton. It even protects your wireless network and more.

There is a free trial so I would recommend giving it a try (I am sure you will end up buying it).

    I recommend Kaspersky anti-virus
You can check it out at http://www.kaspersky.com
I think it is the best anti-virus in the world...

I wouldn't fully rely on just one.

Every so often I'll run several of the free online scanners at once to see if mine missed anything.
I post here to whore this sig.

I believe no antivirus title is good on its own - persons (especially in our industry) should have multiple scanners.

I use Alwil's Avast (the best by far) as my main scanner (I scan every other day), along with Kerio Personal Firewall (ZoneAlarm crashes way too often, does not play nice with other software and is nowhere near as powerful), Lavasoft's AdAware & Safer-Networking's Spybot TeaTimer. I also use Trendmicro's (trendmicro.com or antivirus.com) Housecall for a weekly scan or when I feel I have a problem. Kaspersky is okay, but find the list is nowhere near as extensive as Panda or Raven.

MHO, the worse title I have ever purchased (and stupidly renewed license) is Symantec's/Norton’s AntiVirus --- WOW, what a waste of cash that was.

I used to work in a big IT shop, and our security people swore by TrendMicro because they have engineers stationed in those parts of the world where most viruses start, and generally had updated virus patterns hours before anyone else.

Always a pleasure, and I am happy when I can add something positive to our, or the GWW, community.

Kerio is such a good product that it was picked-up by another good company Sunbelt Software (http://www.sunbelt-software.com/).

I hope it works as well for you as it does for me.
