Actually, its not what id consider to be country (Dolly Parton music) its more 'pop-ish meets ballad meets country' he does have a really cool sounding accent though, much better than mine LOL

He's Australian, right? I know he's been trying to do the "cross-over" thing these days. He's pretty hot, isn't he?

You might remember, however, that Dolly Parton's music is actually more "pop-ish meets ballad meets country" than twangy. Her early stuff was pretty Appalachian, but she was actually boycotted by many country radio stations who hated her for "turning pop" with "Nine to Five" in the early '80s. Many country stations still refuse to play her CDs to this day because they said she "went all Hollywood."

Her last four albums have been very bluegrass-inspired. She's been returning to her Appalachian roots. But I'd say that's more folky than country. In fact, Dolly's never really written the kind of country music that people like Merle Haggard and Hank Williams and George Strait wrote.

Have you heard her cover of "Shine" by Collective Soul. I always hated that song until Dolly covered it. I never realized how beautiful the lyrics were.

Although I have to admit, her cover of Stairway to Heaven kind of scared me. :vanish:
