But I have been hearing various things that makes me ask, What is considered professional and not on a porn set. I have had some friends of mine come back from doing a porn shoot with a company and they were telling me that the director and cameraman was also naked and hard during the shoot. I don’t know but that doesn’t sound very professional to me? Am I wrong ? I have heard of other cameramen actually jacking off while shooting, apart from a rather jerky picture , that to me sounds a little odd.

So I put it to everyone, what is your idea of how the crew on a porn shoot should act towards the cast? Should there be any sexual contact between director/ crew and the cast either on or off set?

Also what are the best and worst stories you have heard of things happening while on a porn shoot ?

When WE shoot models we are certainly NOT naked or jerking off...we are too concerned with getting great content for our sites! We do everything to make the model(s) confortable (we work with amateur models). There is enough to worry about such as lighting...technical concerns...and the final outcome which is as I said...the production of HOT content.

the best quality ANYTHING is done by having the people responsible for it focused on the product. the few porn shoots i've been at have the crew fully dressed with their minds on making the best movie they can.

I think a lot of people really don't get the idea that after you've shot a bunch of scenes, it pretty much ceases to be arousing for the production team... as Lee said, if the production team is professional and doing their jobs, their focus is on making sure the models feel comfortable (nervous models don't produce very good content) and dealing with the technical aspects (camera positioning, lighting, angles, etc) that ensure the highest quality scene.

I'm constantly amazed at the stories we hear from models that have worked with other studios. In addition to the production staff being nude, we regularly hear of models who are propositioned by the photographer/site owner/whomever during or after the scene, or a casual "Do you mind if I join in" question during the shoot... or other stuff that, in my book, is completely inappropriate.

Of course "professional" doesn't have to mean "boring" or "rigid"... we often have the models help come up with plot, and there are a lot of very funny moments that we've started capturing for use in bloopers and behind-the-scenes footage that we're now starting to include, much to the delight of our fans.

I hear the most awful horror stories from the models. Fortunately, it seems as if the majority of the horror stories involve only a few producers, although it goes without saying that it gives the business a bad rep. I've heard of producers getting naked with the models, jacking off while filming, trying to have sex with the models and, failing that, offering the models money for golden showers... producers who get into the scenes and perform sex with the guys (a certain Sammy Case video comes to mind)... producers who recruit 16 year olds and 17 year olds in hopes of turning them into models when they turn 18... free flowing drugs at shoots, etc etc. We all know who they are. Some of them partied with you in Las Vegas. I'm not one to publicly throw names out, but BeachBoi Rocky isn't as diplomatic... ask him... I'm sure he'll have a few choice words to say about a few of his fellow Cali. colleagues that aren't too flattering.

Personally, I don't think that the guys involved in these horror stories are bad people at heart. I believe that it's the sex business that turns them this way, although I know many, many people in the business who are just fine... so I would suppose that the crazy few have to be on the edge to begin with.

Go ahead and flame me if you want to LOL but I wanted to throw my $0.02 worth into the ring.

And PS: I'm 100% in agreement with MiamB. If you're a pro, then you're much too busy concentrating on the work than your urges and, in fact, your urges probably don't even happen when you're really concentrating on the job.

We had several people leave our events in Vegas to go to another party because there werent any free flowing drugs in our suite whilst they knew there would be at the other event so, its not just producers / models but also webmasters

Well I think a lot of this comes too from anyone with a video camera, some software, suddenly becomes a porn producer... hence the flood of videos where you know the guy holding the camera is whacking off... unlike the benchmark studios like Citiboys or Bel Ami (for twinks anyhow).

It always amazes me how so many 'so called' webmasters really are just playing at the game, pretending and it shows in their sites, their work, and even in their posts & wild claims. Still there are a lot of good one's out there, but as said, these wannabees give us all a bad rep.

i think the problem is that no one really says much about a professional photo shoot. there's no gossip and no shock - it's pretty much a normal experience. people are a lot more likely to talk about a photographer who strokes his cock during a shoot. let's face it - it's a lot more interesting.

I've farmed some of my models out to other studios, both professional and amateur, and some have come back with good, and bad experiences, at both ends of the gamut. Two studios, one professional and one amateur, post here, and on other boards regularly so I wont name names but my models had very bad experiences with them. They were both studios here in Australia.

I've found that being flexible and going with the models flow is the key to creating good content. If you are too straight laced, and the model isn't, he'll feel uncomfortable and it will show on screen. Crew shouldn't suprise models, they should know in advance everything that's going to happen and sign to the scenario on the model release packet.

If that's what the scenario is for the video yeah.Some models get turned on by flirting with cast/crew and it helps them perform at their maximum.

All producers have had good and bad experiences with models, and models will have the same with producers. Our business isn't any different then anyone elses in this sense. At the end of the day if you are doing something that's not effective it will show in your end product.

Another way of looking at this is actors and actresses in mainstream movie productions. How often do we hear of them dating on set during production? How many husbands and wives have met onset? We often hear of actors/actresses dating cast, crew, directors, etc.

i guess each person's opinon of what is professional may vary. Although we dont go for the being naked and jerking off whilst filming strategy, i think it helps to be a bit flirty with the guys as this helps to break down the director/model barriers. Its quite easy to see who would and wouldnt respond to this, so i dont think it would ever come across as unprofessional.

Besides its always a lot more enjoyable for everyone if youre working as a team and youre all having a laugh. fortunately weve been quite lucky with our guys, and theyre mostly genuinely nice people, and apart from the odd hungarians who dont speak english, most of our shoots go smoothly and the models walk away with a good opinion of us... i think, well they come back so that must count for something.
