    Wednesday, Feb 15 on Oprah

Well, brace yourselves. I'm not sure exactly who this is involving, but on tomorrow's Oprah she's talking about a "boy who became a porn star" online using his webcam. This stuff is never good for the business.

another soapy show from Oprah. I wonder if he has a book to sell
It will all of course be biased, but there's also sites like Camarades (WW.com now) and some others that are tottaly free and people just go and show off.

Then there's MySpace where everyone's 14 year old daughter is trying to be cool by posing in her underwear and gets comments from her school mates.

I'll watch it if I don't forget but I already know how it's going to go

I think this is Justin Whatshisname, the guy who was written about in the New York Times who was jerking off on webcam at 13 and making 100G a year (he says) by the time he was 15.

    He's been making the rounds.

Damn, I wonder if he got any cub scout medals for that. What an enterprising little fuck.

Yes, that's Justin on her site.

I don't think she will target the adult industry. This is probably going to be a "protecting your children online" show. I can't really think of any opening for her to bash online adult. He was never involved with anyone from the legit side.

Having Brent Corrigan on would have been 10 times worse for us.
I post here to whore this sig.

You do realize by 'gay' I mean a man who has sex with other men?

I just heard a trailer for this show and it seems like it is in fact going to be a protecting children by not letting them have a webcam type show.

His name is Justin Berry. He's 19 now, but was webcamming and jerking off for cash since he was 13.

There was a big article in NYT (it's archive only now, $4 to read it), but you can Google "justin berry" and read all the sordid details. Casey, who used to post here and did some freelance marketing for CollegeBoysLive, is apparently involved with it, and he is apparently in jail now, awaiting trial.

There's apparently a lot more to the story than what NYT said, though... I read some other articles and info, and it seems that Justin is nowhere near as much the "innocent boy led astray" as he's being portrayed, and it's rumored that he's working on a book and movie deal. From some of the articles I read, another story emerges, that of the kid as a very conniving entrepreneur who knew exactly what he was doing, encouraged other underage kids to join in the activities and profited from their work, and allowed or set up the adults working with him to take the fall...

Who knows what's true and what isn't, but it's all pretty disgusting in my book... no matter what the deal is, anything involving underage kids, whether they are 13 or 17, is not OK. At least in this case, the feds are actually doing something about it.

I know its illegal for underage kids to take and distribute nude pics of themselves, sounds like to me that he knew exactly what he was doing

The show was sorta interesting, the details were so few that it wasn't terribly enlightening. They mentioned a processor, but not by name. I think any parent that allows a kid to have a webcam should wake up.

One more reason I won't even talk to a possible cam guy, unless he is 25.

The most disturbing thing was the format of the show. As the hour wore on, the segments got shorter and the commercial breaks more numerous. I actually timed the segments and breaks at the end... the shortest segment was 1 minute, surrounded by 4 mins of commercials. Jeesh, how do people sit through that shit?

Regarding the book deal, he said he gave up the book offer to be on Oprah to save kids from his terrible experience. Yeah, right. Now he has more publicity and the offer from a book or movie deal will be bigger.

Sorry but, what terrible experience was it? The cash he made, I don’t think he was escorting or anything, just JO on cam. I personally think the only terrible experience as far as he sees it was getting busted.

    We're in the porn business.

Anything that goes wrong is our fault.

We deserve anything bad that happens to us, no matter how unjust.

That's the public view, we all know that.

On a side note: After reading the blurb on the Oprah website is looks so dramatic, her holding the webcam and saying "By hooking up his webcam, Justin unintentionally became a fresh face in a dark world where men prey on vulnerable teenagers and children." What a joke. "Six years ago, Justin was a typical "boy next door." Between homework and band practice, he found time to run a legitimate small business creating websites. A self-described "computer nerd," Justin was excited to get an inexpensive webcam. He planned to use the simple tool—a video camera that connects to the Internet—to meet friends and chat with girls. Justin joined a popular website and posted his profile. "

The processor in question is Neova.net. The owner of Neova, whose name I don't remember, was friends with Casey and the other guy who just pled guilty, and, according to the Feds, had some connections with an ISP that was hosting CP.

Apparently Neova processed (they claim unknowingly) for a bunch of sites featuring underage models. They also claim to have found some loophole around the Visa regulations and don't do the high risk registration for their clients. However, no one has formally accused Neova or its owner of anything criminal, though they are apparently under investigation.

Methinks with all the publicity, Visa will be taking a closer look.

Also, regarding Justin, according to the NYT article, he did meet on a semi-regular basis with some of his webcam clients and got paid to have sex, so he was in the escorting side of the biz as well... this, also, before he was 18. He claims that some of them stalked him and now he's "in danger" for turning in the hundreds of people that paid money for him to provide his various services.

What I liked about the show was it showed parents how they really need to pay more attention to what their kids are doing. Here was Justin doing everything he did and his mother worked as a counsellor working with kids who were sexually abused. She didn't even she it happening to her own son.

I found it really odd that she wasn't on the show with him.

And they left things hanging about Justin's dad. What happened? Was he arrested? Charged?

And Paypal's probably scrambling to do some damage control.

So many holes in that story though.

    Michael
