    Video Clip Problem

    Hey guys,

I'm putting up some of my first video clips and I'm having a problem. When I click the video clip it doesn't start playing right away, it waits to download the whole clip. And yet, when xstr8guy clicks them, they play right away. So is this a problem with settings on my own computer or what?

    Cheers
    Michael

if the clips are WMVs, it might depend on the settings you have for windows media player. if they are MPGs, well, that's what MPGs do. if they're quicktime, it depends. and so on. WMVs are going to play sooner for more people, but even then there are people who will end up having to wait, and most won't know why.

There are Real Player and WMV's. xstr8guy helped me check my Windows Media Player settings, but it still happens. Although it may be Internet connection, as someone suggested, I'm not properly connected to my network. I'm getting that fixed this weekend, so we'll see.

    Thanks
    Michael

are you both using the same browser?

I know MS stopped support for some formats if youre using anything other than internet explorer

Did you try to download Windows Media Player again to see if that fixes the problem, I know they have come out with a new version not to long ago, I had a problem with the old one and that’s how I fixed it.

if you check galleries everyday or surf porn then IE can be the worst.
Ive had to reformat my hd every 2-3 months when I surfed with IE because the amount of adware and spyware would render my computer useless.
I couldnt open a webpage without it popping up ads, redirecting me, adding ads to my pages, etc.

Ive used Firefox for over a year now and havent had to to reformat at all.

I have really not had to many problems, but do check my work with Fox Fire ECT.

Yeah, I'm using Firefox. Why am I not surprised the Microsoft has stopped support for other browsers?

Thanks for the tips. I'll check it in IE.

oh, firefox - if you are downloading the wmvs through the firefox download manager, it very possibly does require you to fully download before watching.

The clips that Michael is talking about stream for me in Firefox and IE. It really doesn't have to do with the browser anyways because the clips are not embedded in a page... they open Windows Media Player from the link. It has to be something with his WMP settings. With my new computer I was having a hard time steaming .wmvs until I checked my settings in WMP (tools>options>file types) and checked .wmv. Once I did that it worked fine. Is there another setting Michael should be looking for? Because I thought by default WMP streamed all .wmvs.

Btw, if us tech oriented people have problems like this, can you imagine what the average Joe/Jane is coming up against?
