When Did Restaurants Stop Taking Reservations?

This is crazy, im trying to reserve a table for dinner in a few nights time and so far, everyone i have called tells me they dont take phone reservations

How are you supposed to guarantee you can go out for a meal with family and friends when you can no longer book a damn table?

Ive tried the Japanese, Mongolion, French annd Italian places so far, this is crazy, i mean damn, even TGI's takes reservations

    Regards,

    Lee

Haha not a chance in hell.

We ate there for the first time a couple of months ago, needless to say, we WONT be going back LOL

Thats actually the only thing i really hate about living in a beach town, all the good restaurants are jam-packed but the shitty franchised ones are the only ones you can eat in at the weekend without (or with) a reservation

    Regards,

    Lee

I was only semi-kidding. I really used to love Red Lobster but after living in LA all this time I've gotten away from the franchised everything-tastes-the-same crap, except Bucca De Beppo. I love them.

    "no-shows" ruin it for everyone!

a restaurant cannot make money on empty tables , nor parties of 6 or more who stay longer than they should and tip for sh*t , it's hard enough dealing with waiters/waitresses who steal your tables and busboys that pocket your tips!
most finer restaurants still take reservations , and or you might try placing a reservation early and/or in person

sincerely ~ ..."a bitter waiter"... :goof:

    Maxpower, I highly disagree.

After growing up in Pittsburgh, Los Angeles is like freakin' paradise. Nowhere else in this country will you find such an eclectic collection of cultures and wierdos, with such a laid-back atmosphere. To love LA you have to let go a little and be a little crazy but once you find your place in it, it's home. I've seen people get eaten alive here. She's a wild animal, but if you befriend her rather than fight her, she can be a good friend.

too many people ditching on the reservations.

I worked the industry so I believe any restaurant that takes reservations should acquire the persons credit card number that way if/when the 'party' does not show, a fine or fee is applied.

McRedLobster  I suddenly developed a tummy ache.

Okay, I'll admit it. After Pittsburgh almost anyplace would seem more exciting. Except for maybe Ohio (just kidding). But still, don't slag off Los Angeles. It's a great place to live, once you get used to the craziness.

You only see “craziness” cuzz your from Pittsburgh man, the clubs are pussy, small, and overpriced. Just look at the sites that rank the gay clubs from all over the US the WEHO clubs or really any CA clubs are not on that list. Ca has nothing on FT Lauderdale or Dallas. I know Pittsburgh suck but this place is really poor, and over priced at the same time its not a good combination. My new Ca saying goes like this “Californians are not so laid back as they are bent over” You really need to travel around the US before making judgments like that, I know in comparison Ethiopia would make Ca look cool but you are not getting the whole picture. I am sorry I am a capitalist, and I can not get behind a state with out even a super wal-mart, only one electric company, phone company, gas company, ECT, and in the whole LA area one sonic or long John silvers ECT I could go one for hours about this. You are right if you like state protected, over priced, over regulated, mom and pop companies then CA is the place for you :hmmph:

Oh, I see where you're coming from. Well, I don't go to hip gay clubs, would not set foot in a Wal-Mart if you paid me, and while I do miss Long John Silvers I make up for it with the hundred or so restaurant choices that are within 5 miles of my home. In your world, LA may suck, but in my world, it's the best place I've ever lived. And while we may never end up in each other's worlds, they both seem to work for us.
