Any Idea Why This Keeps Happening?

The time on my laptop keeps changing itself, for example, right now, its 11:53PM but the time on my laptop says it is 8:58PM

A few days ago the same thing happened to and i changed it back.

Anyone had this happen before and if so, how did you fix it?

    Regards,

    Lee

It's just the axis of the earth flipping around erratically causing your computer to think it's in a different timezone. Can't you feel the movement?

Seriously, I have never had that happen before.

There is a "CMOS clock" in your computer which is powered by a tiny battery.
As long as the battery is good, this clock keeps the correct time,
and each time your computer is restarted, Windows reads its initial time from
the CMOS clock. However, while Windows is running, it keeps track of the time
on its own without continuing to check the CMOS clock, and keeping track
of the time is not the only thing Windows has to do. The busier your system gets,
the more likely it is to lose time. Generally, the longer you use your computer,
the further behind it gets. You may also need to update your bios.

depending on the age of the laptop, it's possible the little battery that preserves cmos settings is dying. I had a motherboard that would do that it eventually would come up with the weirdest shit... just random day/date changes... other than that, not sure what to tell you.

The battery can be replaced, but might not be self-serviceable. It depends how accessible your motherboard is (some laptops are fool-proof tight and then you'll have to get it serviced.)

But, the "duh" answer is to make sure your laptop is set to the right timezone. Windows occasionally makes calls to a time server and self-adjusts.

You know... Sometimes the 'duh' answer is the best one LMAO

You were right, for some reason my timezone was set to pacific which would account for the 3 hour time difference

That's cuz your puter knows that the sun rises and sets by what us Pacific Time Zone dudes do... either that or GA changed it to make you think it was earlier than you thought so you'd work more and not raid the fridge...:coffee:
