    Abortion

South Dakota calls for a total ban on abortions.
This is the first shoe to drop. With the Supreme Court now decidely anti-choice, now is the time for all of the religious conservative states to challenge Roe v. Wade. First South Dakota, then Mississippi and North Dakota followed by all of the Southern and Mountain states.

Will women stand for this? Will this be Bush and the Republican Party's Waterloo?

I have a difficult time understanding how something like abortions makes or breaks a campaign, or someone’s political career.
First off, it has nothing to do with politics and is matter that should only be discussed or handled by those directly involved!

There are more important concerns to worry about, such as starvation, which most likely kills the most amount of people, in our little world.
How about applying the wasted resources (time and money) to that, and make it the sacred crusade.

I will cherish the day when religious agendas are banned from politics (like th@'s possible --- too many Wako wackos out there).

You do realize by 'gay' I mean a man who has sex with other men?

    Personally,

I dont have an opinion one way or the other on abortion, its really not something that I am ever going to have to deal with.

I do however, have an opinion on state laws being passed that, quite frankly, will do a lot more to curb free thought and limit options of women who, for example, might not be in a position to raise a child.

    Regards,

    Lee

That's the way I look at it, Lee. I don't feel that men should be making laws about what women can do with their bodies. Until we are able to give birth to children, I really don't think we should have much of say in the matter other than offering our support and nurturing so that more women will want to have children instead of aborting them.

Abortion is really just the Republicans' way of drawing the focus away from the things that really matter. Attacking issues of "morality" is a cheap and easy way for them to get press time. It's why they focus on gay marriage and anything else that taps into the fears of Middle America. Not saying all Republicans are evil, but in general, they are a political party operating on a platform built upon fears, bullying and intimidation. Fuck the lot of them.

In America, religion has EVERYTHING to do with politics. Reagan jumped into to bed with Religious Right and changed our politics forever. The Religious Right has become such a dominant force in our politics that they have dictated policy to the Republican party for years.

You're right about that. The irony was that the country was built upon the foundation of separating religion from policy. I think the Republican party is really one of the LEAST patriotic platforms out there. They claim it's all about America, but they don't seem to have a clue about what America is really all about. To them, it's only a "free country" for the ones with the money to afford to be free. At long last, they have no sense of decency, sir.

I agree, and would like to add that no person or institution should be allowed to make a law that interrupts a person from doing what ever the heck they want, to themselves.

It is the individuals life, so if they want to end it, so be it! It is not for others to decide.
If they want to treat their body like a toxic waste container, have at er!

Well, I wouldn't go THAT far, but I get what you're saying.

There are certain laws in place to protect people from hurting themselves and others.

I know, and that is the problem, too many think like that and they go further.

Why do people always act as if they are so concerned with others causing harm to themselves, yet every day people starve to death, while others gorge.
I cannot kill myself, but I am allowed to starve while roaming the streets looking for a place to sleep.

Ken, I'm not attacking you, just arguing.

And that is exactly the argument that anti-choice zealots use.

Hehe. Well, actually in your bed may be a better place. But then again, you're straight. Your bed may be a boring place for me, .

Yeah, but it's not an invalid argument, though, just b/cuz they use it. There are certain laws regarding, say, murder that are, obviously, justified. They just take such things too far. There's a happy middle that I think would make the world a much better place. It's just a matter of meeting each other half-way. Unfortunately, they're usually too stubborn to try, b/cuz fo them it's all about the power that comes from controlling others.

    what ever happened to optimism.

Did I ever tell any of you boys that my last date was ... with a guy? No, I did not lose a bet. He asked if I'd be his date for the evening and I gladly said yes. Towards the early morning, I went to his room and we talked A LOT, before I stuffed a juicy muffin in my mouth.
Why,the missing one even got to stuff condoms down me shorts! (No, I did not charge.)

The outcome does not matter: at that point in time, I was his date and he was mine ... I'm just not that easy.
