Our friend and colleague, Austin Black, passed away in his Long Beach, California home on March 9, 2006 as the result of an accident.

Austin Black, born in Los Angeles, started his porn career in 1986 working in a video for the now defunct, Adam & Co. He most recently worked for us in WHITE COLLAR BAREBACK, a ZylcoCo, Inc. production that was released on January 3 of this year. This was his fourth performance with us and we believe, his last.

Austin had performed in more than 99 videos. A true professional, punctual, talented and personable and a great man. We will miss him.

99 videos ain't too bad, and with most all of the big name talent in the biz and some of the best production companies - from Adam & Co. and All Worlds (in the front end list of As) to Zeus and ZyloCo (in the back end of the list of Zs) with some 30 companies in between.

As the person who found the body, this is what I was told by the coroner's office. This is a copy of what I sent out to others in the industry that both Austin and I knew and had worked with:

Just wanted to let everyone know, that on Thursday March 9th, I found Austin dead in his apartment. We both lived in the same building in Long Beach. I had not seen him for a few days, so I went to check up on him. I noticed water running out of his door. When I entered the apartment, I found him dead in the tub. He had been dead for a few days. All very devastating to me, as he was one of my best friends. The coroner's office has labeled the death as natural causes. I will keep everyone posted on a memorial service. If you know anyone else that knew him, please pass my e-mail and this info to them. Thank you

A Memorial Service will be held for Austin at the MCC (Metropolitan Community Church) 8714 Santa Monica Boulevard, West Hollywood, California 90069 on the 24th of April at 7PM.
Flowers will be received after 10AM the day of the service
(in lieu of flowers, a donation to the MCC would be greatly appreciated)

Thanks for posting a thread about Austin...it's very sad and tragic. He was really a great performer.

When I heard that he passed away, I put a memorial rotator ad on our website.

In spite of numerous attempts by Randy Summers, memorial service planner, to track down some great photos of Austin that are owned by some of the MAJOR studios (and you know who you are)...those studios have decided to ignore all of his attempts to contact them...

We are now rellying on our friend, Andrew Rosin (a damned good editor for the MAJORS and someone we just had lunch with) to contact some of the MAJOR studios re: getting a couple of nice photos for Austin's memorial....

Jeez, it sure can be complicated being a porn star "legend".

BTW - AEBN is capitalizing on Austin's death by featuring him on the front page of their site... we're not so sure how we feel about that sort of thing...
we're not sure if its in the best of taste...just kinda rubs us the wrong way.
