I think that in allot of cases that’s very true, like most women they are not very willing to take chances and anything new “not counting sex” really inhibits them.
Also I think their is a real atmosphere in the gay community of not wanting to help or contribute to any other gay people making money or at least more money than them selves, which all comes back to self hatred thing but that’s a whole nother thread :borg:

Maybe, or maybe we're just more savvy and know of places to go online to hook up. Craigslist m4m hookups areas are rocking and those are free.

I'm convinved that hooking up with guys online is a big reasons why the gay bars arent as busy anymore as they used to be
I personally buy porn online but only pay per view theaters, so I know exactly what Im getting and only pay for exactly what I watch.
I very rarely sign up for paysite memberships anymore, unless there a guy on the tour who fits EXACTLY what I want and trips a trigger in me.

IF that was remotely true then this very forum wouldn't exist. Perhaps the real reason You don't get any help is because of blanket statements like that one. Maybe you have loads of self hatred but I sure as hell don't and I can think of several who participate on this board who don't have any 'self hatred' issues.
This entire community and several others are built around doing exactly what you claim our 'entire community' doesn't do. How many straight sites have health links on them? Many gay sites do, so I guess that's just part of us hating ourselves right?

If anything, the 'straight' community is less likely to extend a TRULY CARING hand, to those that need. Sure, they will help any person that can reciprocate (aid them in getting a leg up in life, or the so-called 'playas'), but when a n00b reaches out, their hand is quickly scorched then severed, by angst and ridicule.
I left a certain board because I found the level of hate was beginning rubbing me (nooo, not like that, which is the other reason I fled ... no free love!) the wrong way!
No matter my sexual orientation, I feel myself every ... uh, I feel more welcomed here, than I did at 99% of the other boards. People here really do not care about your post count or your annual earnings - most here listen to what you have to say, that is until you pee on someone's parade.
At least that is what I have seen, since I've squeezed my way in.
Regarding whether or not straight traffic/member's spend more: Straight typically are embarrassed about their 'habit' also do not care about the quality of the site, only how quickly they can 'rub one out'. They do tend to spend more on up sells (DVD, toys, penis enlargement etc), which I believe is due to the 'mad rush factor' (best buy as much as they can before the wife walks in on them and their favourite towel, or before they begin to feel guilty).
Gay members (excluding those that have yet celebrated their liberation) are in no rush, nor are they embarrassed about pleasure.

over the years i've heard from many out and gay members of paysites i've been affiliated with. if anything, my gay stuff still sells better than twice as well as my str8 stuff - we're talking pure conversion ratio here.
there are 8 zillion websites out there so we have to let our marketing and strategies evolve. i know people who are marketing the same way they were 2 years ago, and they're making less and less money.
free porn can be a great marketing tool IF you know how to do it. that means if your galleries or free sites don't sell, you don't give up - you read some boards, look at the changes going on around you and change how ya do it.
there's a str8 board and everyone there agrees you can't make sales on thehun. they are 100% convinced and sure of this. the fact that i and many of my buddies make 5- 8 sales or more on day 1 of a hun listing gets ignored. the truth is the people on that board listen to this one designer whose galleries just don't work. they all adjust what they're doing so their galleries are more like that designers and none of them make sales. then they all say that galleries don't make sales.
i guess the short version is if what you're doing doesn't work, try something else. the gay market is still spending better than th str8 market
