You do realize by 'gay' I mean a man who has sex with other men?

If You Were To Open A New Affiliate Program Tomorrow..

For both the gay and straight markets what niched paysites would you open with as a must have?

Just curous been talking to a guy on ICQ all morning and they said that you should really open an affiliate program with upwards of 20 paysites if you want to have both gay and straight webmasters promoting you.

Of course i disagreed considering we opened Stud Money with only one and we have a mix of gay and straight webmasters promoting us

What are your thoughts on this?

    Regards,

    Lee

It doesn't matter to me at all how many sites are in their "stable."

For example, Maleflixxx does theirs in-house, and they are just one site. I think Bedfellow is another --- or if they have other sites, I'm not aware of it.

If you want an effective affiliate program I recommend things like:

    1) Regular newsletters or communication to your affiliates.

    2) Make all your products that you sell on your site commissionable.

    3) Utilize a 7 - 60 day tracking cookie.

(minor technican tip - write this into your Terms of Service. Many of the porn sites terms of service are really scanty on information)

    ---

I'll put it another way - I would happily forego a little bit of commission percentage in exchange for those above items.

Sadly, one program I am in, they use ccBill - and they perform ok for me - I get maybe $50 - $100 a month from them - the owner of the site has a total "whatever" non-caring attitude towards my questions as his affiliate. Now as soon as their products are available through an alternative venue, I'm dumping them.

    Love is a two-way street.

Another thing that I look for is I will assess the website just in general. Does it look good? Do they make it easy for the customer to spend money? Do they tell you early on their prices?

Now that's just general stuff that any ol' webmaster would probably want to implement, whether or not they are implementing an affiliate program. But I actually do employ that. If a site is tacky, or something I would spend money on myself, I'll probably not use their program.

    Hope that helps!

    Steve
