Possible To Change ISPs Static IP Address?

Does anyone know if its possible to change your ISPs static IP address for your connection?

Or perhaps, rather than change it completely, ask for an extra IP addie?

    Regards,

    Lee

it really depends on the ISP, you should just call them and ask.

I have roadrunner with 2 concurrent IPs, one changes all the time, the other never does. I called to ask how to change the static one, and you have to go into network properties, find out when it expires, then turn the PC off and unplug the modem a half hour before the IP expires, leave it off an hour, and then power it all up.. and its POSSIBLE you get a new IP.

Needless to say, I still have the old one.

All ISPs sell IP addresses to their customers.

Usually in blocks of 8 (5=6 would be useable, 2-3 are networking overhead)... as few as 4, as many as 256...

yep usually just a case of asking and telling them why your old one just goes back into the pool to be reassigned.

of course there may be a fee depending on if they want to grab every cent from ya
