    Best business tip huh?

Well I'd say it is to accept that you don't know it all, that there are others who do know more, and that you can benefit from them by listening, not talking, and that even if it might not seem right, it might be fitted to suit you. So take the 'I Know It All' chip off, accept that even if you have been doing it for years, doesn't mean you have done it right or to its fullest potential. :coffee:

    Another one I like.

When things don't work well, or seem to be going right, don't go rushing in to change to something else. Have the patience to examine what isn't working and why, then see if it can be corrected but before 'blaming' the lack of success on the economy, on too much competition, or whatever, examine your own product honestly, without the arrogance of thinking it is the best built mouse trap ever.

See what the one's succeeding are doing and figure out why you didn't do that, and how you can make what they do, work for you as well.

In short, look at your product first before casting an eye outwards to blame others or other aspects that you dont control. Be willing to admit, 'I Goofed' and then figure out how to fix it, and if you don't know how, holler for help from those who do know.

That in all respect this is very subjective, but how about “sometimes less can really be allot more, in the eyes of many viewers” :coffee:

Take every thing that people say with a grain of salt, or another way of saying it is, believe only ½ of what you see and none of what you hear. Go your own way as much as possible, advice is good, but if you take everyone’s advice on everything you will fail for sure, or at least have really created nothing, but a generic version of someone else’s dream :turban:

when changing something that isn't working, don't change several things at once. use a little patience and chance one thing, then check how it's doing. if things don't improve, change ONE more thing, then check again.

doing only one change at a time keeps you from making two changes that cancel each other out. also when you make another page/gallery/site, you will know what the one change is that worked and can apply it.

here's something more basic that i'm always watching people learn the hard way: don't post something (gallery, free site, etc) till you're sure it's done. if you want to ask for advice or comments, do it BEFORE you post.

Respect your core competencies. You know what you're good at and what you're not good at. (If you don't know, you'd better find out.)

If you're an HTML wizard, but you can't wrap your head around PHP, stop banging your head against a wall. You can try and learn it, but there comes a time when you may have to admit, "You know, I just don't get PHP," and then hire someone. You're time is better spent making money doing the stuff you really know, it may take your four times as long to do something else that you're not good at.

If you can sell twinks, but not Asians, stop trying.

If you can design but you can't write, hire someone.

If you can build AVS galleries, but not TGPs, build more AVS galleries.

We tend to think that if we can't do it all, we're failures. But those who are really successful do what they're good at, and then, surround themselves with experts in the areas where they are weak.

    Cheers,
    Michael

What I did ever since starting with adult is

read, read, understand, play, reevaluate, repair your stuff, read more, play more with the stuff you are doing, understand why things are behaving different and finally put all things together.

It may take a while - weeks, months, years, but it will get easier and you develop a trade in what you do.

Never, but never forget to look beyond your pond!

    Additionally

Try different "trades" in the adult business like building galleries, promoting sponsor sites, writing blogs or copy text, taking pictures, making videos, building and running paysites, design and layout, SEO etc etc....

Maybe one has more luck with a different thing that he/she does now - you only know when you are trying

So far I only miss out shooting a porn movie....

    Here's a few things I've learned:

Make your business partners/employees/clients feel like they are important and special and they are much more likely to help you achieve success. Avoid conflict whenever possible. Honestly listen to their advice and criticisms. If you have a differing idea then theirs, try to make them see your point and come to the same conclusion themselves rather then forcing them to do something they don't want.

Here's practical ways to apply this tip:

    - If you have a Webmaster affiliate program, treat each affiliate with special care and attention, and address each of their needs. If they run a large TGP site, provide them with your best selling galleries. If they bring a lot of sales for you, surprise them with a nice bottle of wine or an extra bonus. Little things like this that show you notice them and will make them want to work that much harder to promote your programs.

    - If you desire link trades or are trying to sell some service to a client, sincere praise and goodwill is going to make them much more likely to do business with you and give you what you want. Research their site and company before approaching them, sound knowledgable, and try to appeal to their interests as much as possible when talking to them. If you can give them something they want, chances are much more likely they'll give you what you want.

    - If you have employees, find out what their ultimate goals are and figure out how you can help them achieve them. For example, if you have a designer that says he wants to be the best Flash artist, why not pay some extra money for them to train more and go to school? They will appreciate your giving them this special treatement and chances are they will be more loyal to you...and at the same time they are learning more in their field which is only going to help your business grow.
