What Steps Do You Take To Protect Your Online Business?

Just wondered what steps everyone took in order to protect their online businesses longevity?

Do have a particular thing that you do every time you setup a new business / website or venture to ensure that you protect it in some way?

Maybe you register several variations of your main domain name to stop people from 'squatting' or maybe you have something else that you do?

    Regards,

    Lee

    Hey Lee,

Gee, surprised you haven't received any responses to this post.

Yea, we try to register every possible spelling of our domain name we can. That's always the first step.

For Hot Desert Knights, since it is our primary business, we actually went thru the agonizing task of obtaining a trademark. We did it ourselves...had we known what it would be like, we would have hired an attorney do it. But, after 18 months, we finally got it trademarked.

We also copyright everything....from photos to videos and we register them all with the U.S. Copyright office.

When forming a corporation we check nationally to make sure that no one else is using the name. Checking just in your own state can lead to probelms down the road if someone else in another state has been using the name you choose.

    Bill
